Job Description Summary
The clinical pharmacy specialist will work within our outpatient benign heme clinics. Their role will be to help optimize patient outcomes, improve patient outcomes, and participate in interprofessional collaboration. This position reports to the pharmacy director of clinical services and collaborates closely with the clinic’s healthcare professionals. The ideal candidate will be motivated, possess a wide clinical knowledge base, demonstrate strong communication and time management skills, and be able to work in a team environment to provide safe and efficient patient care.

Job Description

The Pharmacist provides distributive and clinical pharmacy services to the outpatients and visitors of the Medical University Hospital and Clinics. Additional responsibilities include addressing the needs of nursing and medical personnel regarding drug disposition and usage; counsels patients and health care professionals by providing general and patient specific drug information; ensures timely and medically appropriate dispensing. The Pharmacist participates in the patient management and quality programs of the Pharmacy.

Additional Job Description
Minimum Training and Education: Doctor of Pharmacy or a Bachelor's degree in pharmacy. Completion of a pharmacy residency preferred. Required Licensure, Certifications, Registrations: Licensed as a Registered Pharmacist by the South Carolina Board of Pharmacy. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required, either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider.
