Summary

Position Highlights:

This position will provide Clinical Oncology - Infusion Services to the Magnolia Infusion Center Pharmacy. The Pharmacist will work to ensure accurate, safe and effective dispensing, order validation and processing of chemotherapy and non-chemotherapy orders. The Pharmacist will make clinical recommendations for treatment or modification of therapy when appropriate. The Pharmacist will provide clinical and educational counseling to patients. The Pharmacist will provide educational services to physicians, nurses, residents and other healthcare professionals and within the Department of Pharmacy.

Responsibilities:
• Will have an excellent knowledge base in oncology (or a related field) and be able to apply this to their practice.
• Will deliver personalized pharmaceutical care and provide clinical and educational counseling to patients receiving treatment in the Infusion Center.
• Will be the point of contact/resource for the Infusion Center Advanced Practice Professionals (APPs) to assist in treatment decisions related to reactions, extravasations and supportive care needs.
• Will have clinical interactions with the healthcare team to assure appropriateness of therapy.
• Will make clinical recommendations for treatment or modification of therapy when appropriate.
• Will monitor patients receiving treatment in the Infusion Center for opportunities to optimize management of adverse effects.
• Will respond to Code Blue and Rapid Response events to provide clinical recommendations and expedite medication delivery to the patient.
• Will help developing treatment order sets for hematologic/oncologic disease states including chemotherapy regimens, adjunctive treatment and supportive care.
• Will provide educational services to physicians, nurses, residents and other healthcare professionals and within the Department of Pharmacy.
• Will work to ensure accurate, safe and effective dispensing, order validation and processing of chemotherapy and nonchemotherapy orders.
• Will provide functional supervision of technical staff working in their area including completion of job assignments and assuring adherence to institutional policies and procedures.
• Will be involved in the verification of hazardous and non-hazardous compounding and preparations.
• Will focus on quality improvement and will provide input and suggestions to improve patient care.

Credentials and Qualifications:
• Minimum of Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy required.
• Licensed as a Pharmacist in the state of Florida required.
• Either three (3) years of progressive Institutional Oncology Pharmaceutical Experience or Advanced Pharmacy Practice Residency (PGY1) is required.
