JOB SUMMARY

In this role, Clinical Pharmacy Specialist with Investigational Drug Services will maintain responsibility for clinical investigational drug trials in assigned area. This includes providing expertise in support of clinical drug trials, working with providers to develop order sets and/or electronic order panels for study medications, accurate and efficient dispensing of investigational medications, and other administrative duties as assigned. This individual should have excellent communication skills and will serve as a resource to the study team and other pharmacists while working in an innovative practice and service delivery model. A clinical background in Oncology, Critical Care, General Medicine, or Geriatrics would be extremely helpful in this role.

Individual will also provide education to technicians, pharmacists, and other health care practitioners. They will serve as a preceptor of pharmacy interns, technicians, and ASHP-accredited pharmacy residents.

Minimum Qualifications

Degrees: Must have a Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy or Pharm. D. degree from an accredited school of pharmacy

License & Certifications:
- Texas Pharmacist License or eligible for Texas Pharmacist License; must obtain licensure within 90 days of employment.
- Texas Pharmacist Preceptor Certification within 90 days of employment
- ACPE IV Sterile Certification
- Board of Pharmacy Specialties Certification required or obtain within 18 months of employment. Must maintain national certification such as Board of Pharmacy Specialties If certification is lapsed, employee has six months to rectify for new certification period.
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 90 days of employment.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) with course accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA) or per LRC will be required for inpatient positions prior to or within 6 months of employment

Work Experience:
Completion of PGY1 and PGY2 from an ASHP-accredited residency program; OR
PGY1 from an ASHP-accredited residency program with 3 years of progressive clinical practice within specialty area

Communication Skills: Above Average Verbal (Heavy Public Contact), Writing/ Reports

Proficiencies: MS Word, P.C.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Analytical, Design, Mathematics, Medical Terms, Research, Statistical

Work Schedule: Weekends, Holidays, Flexible, Overtime, Travel, On Call
