Summary:

The Clinical Research Assistant reports directly to the Institutional Research Director and under the supervision of the Clinical Trials Operations Manager. The Clinical Research Assistant performs a variety of duties assisting with document management, protocol related assessments of research participants, laboratory functions and assisting in tasks related to assisting in delegated tasks related to the work of the study team.

Responsibilities:

Performs necessary functions as approved by the Principal Investigator and after the completion of required training, for the conduct of clinical research; Adheres to GCP, ICH, HIPAA, FDA Regulations and SOPs.

Assists with the screening, tracking and scheduling of patient protocol related visits and conducts appointment reminders.

Responsible for completing tasks within Clinical Trial Management Software (CTMS), EMR, EDC and electronic Investigator Site File (e-ISF).

EMR documentation. Assists with updating and maintaining logs and e-charts. Completes data entry into electronic case report forms ensuring accuracy of data and reporting of adverse events to sponsor; Ensures study related reports and patient results are reviewed by the study team in a timely manner.

Perform basic lab procedures, such as: blood specimen collection, centrifuge operation, storing and shipping of lab specimens, accountability of specimens and notification of courier for specimen pick-up per protocol specifications.

May obtain vital signs and ECGs. Manage study supplies, inventory, prepping, and ordering.

Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education and Experience:

• High school or equivalent
• Research Certification in SOCRA, ACRP, CHC or CHRC (Certification should be achieved within 3 years in role)
• Competency in Phlebotomy, Vitals, EKG, POCT (Competency should be achieved within 6 months of role)
• BLS (AHA BLS Certification should be achieved within 6 months of role)

Preferred Education and Experience:

• Certified Medical Assistant
• Bilingual in Spanish and English
