Job Description:
PURPOSE OF JOB : To provide assistance in coordinating multi-specialty national and international clinical trials. To screen, identify and when appropriate, enroll and monitor patients who are candidates for selected Doylestown Hospital Research Protocols. To be a liaison and provide direction to the physicians for planning, implementation, protocol compliance, follow-up and reporting of results of the research protocols.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
-Knowledge of the research process and application of FDA requirements in conducting medical research. Assesses, plans, implements, documents, coordinates and manages patient care related to all clinical trial protocol parameters and within the scope of the Nurse Practice Act.
-Effectively communicates with all hospital disciplines (physicians, nursing, administration, pharmacy, laboratory, radiology, medical records, accounting/billing, community relations, medical staff office's associates) patients, families and the general public in achieving excellence in-patient care.
-Utilizes analytical skills to direct and complete all research-related activities
-Demonstrates clinical proficiency and maintains a knowledge base of hospital policies, and research protocols
-Actively participates in and supports departmental and organizational quality initiatives and goals
Job Qualifications:
QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Graduate of an approved Registered Nursing Program and licensed as a professional nurse in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
Experience : 2 years experience in CCU, ICU, ED and/or Cardiac Cath Lab is preferred.. Critical Care nursing or extensive on-the-job training in the Cardiology realm of Medicine is required. Medical terminology is required. BLS is required.
Other Skills:
-Requires proficiency with computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint
-Must be able to work in a constantly changing environment.
-Must be extremely flexible.
-Must be able to work with a team consisting of physicians, nurses, technicians, secretarial staff and other hospital supporting departments and personnel.
