Job Summary - CORRECTIONAL HEALTH
The Clinical Resource Nurse (CRN) assesses, plans, develops, implements and evaluates education activities, competency validation, clinical care, programs and initiatives for the assigned department/units. The CRN demonstrates expert clinical knowledge and skills and effective teaching/education skills and supports system level nursing clinical and education nursing initiatives.
The CRN provides leadership within the department including: quality improvement activities; supports effective human resources management; and supports resource accountability. The CRN exemplifies professionalism and promotes a customer-friendly environment by utilizing ServiceFIRST behaviors in interactions with patients, families, and staff members.
The CRN is responsible for facilitating an environment that cultivates exemplary patient care. As a member of the nursing leadership team, the CRN establishes a setting that supports professional nursing practice and empowers nurses to provide safe, effective, compassionate and efficient nursing care in collaboration with all health care disciplines. The CRN facilitates enculturation of the Correctional Health Nursing Professional Practice Model (NPPM), its goals and achievement of targeted outcomes at the unit level. The CRN supports compliance with standards established by professional nursing organizations; national, state, and local regulatory agencies and institutional policies and procedures. The CRN holds high standards of integrity and ethical behavior, mentors others, role models professionalism, and participates in activities such as nursing organizations, nursing research, and the community.
Minimum Qualifications
Degrees: Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing with a Master's degree in Nursing or related healthcare field is required.
Licenses and Certification:
Licensed to practice nursing in the State of Texas.
Related specialty certification or certification as a nursing professional development specialist (NPD-BC) required within two years of employment.
Basic Life Support from a hospital-based American Heart Association (AHA) approved program.
Other certificates as required by unit/service.
Work Experience: Five (5) years of work experience in related clinical area of practice is required.
Management/Experience: Two (years) related clinical/leadership experience is required.
Communication Skills:
Above Average Verbal (Heavy Public Contact), Exceptional Verbal (e.g., Public Speaking) Writing /Correspondence, Writing / Reports
Proficiencies: MS Word, P.C.
