The Department of Youth Services (DYS) is the juvenile justice agency for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. We work with young people who are detained or committed and provide detention, custody, diagnosis, education and support to young people ages 12-21. Most of the youth served are between the ages 14 and 21. The Department promotes positive change for the youth committed to our care, and has been on the forefront of de-institutionalization, in part, by providing adolescent-focused rehabilitation to youth in residential treatment.

The Department of Youth Services employs staff in various professions and backgrounds in order to engage young people in strategies that support positive youth development.

We are seeking energetic, positive and dynamic individual for the role of Clinical Director (Clinical Social Worker D) at Metro Treatment Program, located at 450 Canterbury Street, Roslindale, MA 02131.

The incumbent of this position will work with adolescent/young adult males. He/she will provide clients with clinical social work services in order to promote and maintain maximum psychosocial functioning; function as integral members of multidisciplinary treatment teams; perform intake functions; organize and coordinate the provision of clinical services for a unit; perform diagnostic evaluations, develop and implement treatment, rehabilitation, crisis, transfer, and/or discharge plans; prepare professional documentation; develop and evaluate programs; provide treatment and psychotherapy to individuals or groups.

Duties and Responsibilities (these duties are a general summary and not all inclusive):

- Provide advocacy; supervise staff; provide consultation and education.

- Ensure that the clinical profiles are up-to-date and accurate for each youth in the program.

- Update Regional Clinical Coordinator or clinical designee on youth with mental health concerns, complex histories, and complex treatment needs.

- Lead/Co-lead and oversee therapy groups including: The Dialectical Behavioral Therapy groups (DBT), Substance Abuse Prevention, Substance Abuse Treatment, and Offender groups.

- Provide/Oversee crisis interventions, individual therapy, and family therapy.

- Oversee treatment planning.

- Ensure that all clinical documentation is completed as required.

- Refer youth for psychiatric consultation. Ensure that the Department's Psychotropic Medication Policy is followed and required documentation is prepared and maintained.

- Serve as a liaison with emergency mental health services network for clients requiring screening for acute psychiatric hospitalization.

- Provide data to Regional Clinical Coordinator or clinical designee.

- Participate in the program's management team and work with the Program

- Director to identify staff needs and, in conjunction with the Program Director and/or Regional Clinical Coordinator or clinical designee, design staff training programs.

- As part of the unit management team, conduct reviews of the behavioral management system and client advocate system and implement any necessary changes or modifications.

- Provide supervision to clinicians.

- Participate in monthly Clinical Director meetings.

- Meet with the Regional Clinical Coordinator and/or Regional Clinician on a regular basis.

- Support family engagement/involvement.

- Other duties as assigned by the Regional Clinical Coordinator/Regional Clinician.

- Provides Staff Training as needed; and performs other related work as required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience working with juvenile offenders.

Experience in residential settings.

Substance abuse assessment training and experience.

Experienced in Suicide Prevention/Intervention Strategies.

Knowledge of Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT).

Strong clinical and organizational skills directly related to the functions of the Department of Youth Services.

Administrative supervision experience.

Clinical supervision experience.

Be able to provide licensure supervision.

Computer skills in MS Word, Outlook and MS Excel.

Considerable knowledge of State laws pertaining to juvenile laws and juvenile rights.

Considerable knowledge of and experience in juvenile/adult corrections.

Experience working as a member of an administrative team.

Clinical Psychology Licensure or LICSW licensure.

Experience working with adolescents and their families, expertise in crisis stabilization and management, and be trained in cognitive behavioral therapy.

Shift: 1 st 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM Days Off: Saturday and Sunday

Candidate must be flexible. Will be required to work one (1) late night per week (11:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.)

Transportation Requirement: Must have reliable transportation.

Minimum Age Requirement: 21 years

Qualifications:

MINIMUM ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS: At least three years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, professional experience as a clinical social worker after earning a master's degree in social work. Based on assignment to second-level supervisory positions, at least one year of experience must have been in a supervisory capacity.

SUBSTITUTIONS:

- A Doctorate in social work, psychology, sociology, counseling, counseling education, or human services may be substituted for the required nonsupervisory experience on the basis of two years of education for one year of experience.

- No substitution will be permitted for the required supervisory experience. One year of education equals 30 semester hours. Education toward a degree will be prorated on the basis of the proportion of the requirements actually completed.

REQUIRED EDUCATION:

A master's or higher degree in social work is required.

LICENSES:

- Licensure as a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker by the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Social Work is required.

- Based on assignment, travel may be required. Those employees who elect to use a motor vehicle for travel must have a current and valid Massachusetts Motor Vehicle Operator's license or the equivalent from another state.
