Position: Clinical Systems Analyst

Position Summary:

Under the guidance of the Lead Clinical Systems Analyst and/or Director of Information Services for the facility, participates as part of the Clinical Systems team, and performs liaison duties associated with the ongoing support and maintenance of clinical systems at the facility. Responsible for daily supports, problem tracking, resolutions, and on-going enhancement design for system updates, testing, and continual education to facility employees and Physicians.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

1. Provides on-going support and management of clinical applications.
2. Participates in the analysis, planning, design, development, testing, implementation, training and maintenance of the clinical systems.
3. Performs system audits and assists in managing application security and integrity.
4. Participates in and contributes to quality improvement process for the department and the hospital
5. Participates in the evaluation of user needs for clinical information systems relative to current systems and available technologies, and makes recommendations to upper management.
6. Participates in the evaluation of work flow and recommend re-engineering of processes around utilization of clinical information systems to maximize departmental and organizational efficiency and effectiveness.
7. Remains abreast of new healthcare technologies and development, and participates in strategic information system planning for the organization.
8. Coordinates assigned projects effectively to meet project goals and deadlines.
9. Develops and provides training programs, documentation and manuals to clinical staff, medical staff and physician office staff on the use of clinical information systems.
10. Assists in the development and enforcement of policies and procedures relative to clinical information management and the use of the clinical information system.
11. Makes regular rounds through the facility to provide opportunity to interact with the user community, assisting them, if necessary and monitoring workflow issues.
12. Works with corporate office and coordinates corporate-wide projects and initiatives related to clinical systems.

13. Maintains an up-to-date knowledge of current trends and issues in health care, nursing practice, healthcare informatics, JCAHO standards, HIPAA, other regulatory and professional standards, enterprise policies and procedures as related to clinical practice and the legal implications of the clinical information system.
14. Maintains a professional image and promotes Service Excellence principles in customer service while directly performing the job and at all times while representing the department and the hospital.
15. Performs other duties as assigned.
16. Follows Northwest Texas Healthcare System compliance programs and federal and state regulatory guidelines.

Qualifications

Requirements:

Registered Nursing Certificate. Bachelor's degree preferred.
Minimum of two years patient care experience.
Minimum of two years experience in a position requiring the demonstration of Leadership skills.
Minimum of two years experience working with healthcare related software programs.
Must possess public speaking, communication and technical writing skills.

Physical and Sensory Requirements:

1. Ability to read and write in English
2. Ability to speak and hear, to allow discussions with employees and peers
3. Ability to cope with and remain calm under stress
4. Ability to respond to pages
5. Ability to evaluate and interpret information and make independent decisions
6. Bending and lifting (5-10 lbs), grasping, fine hand coordination, pushing, and pulling
7. Ability to understand and interpret financial data
