Required Licensure, Certification, On-going Training:
Nursing Assistant certification, BLS certification provided by AHA, American Red Cross, or Military Training Network. All credentials must be maintained with active status.
High School Diploma or equivalent. Successful completion of at least one college course in an Allied Health discipline preferred.
Work Experience: One year of clinical experience e.g., home care, outpatient, acute care (hospital preferred) technician experience during the most recent two years in a setting relevant to the unit; volunteer work as EMT or CRT may be considered.
The Clinical Technician is responsible for:
Under the direct supervision of a nurse, and taking into consideration the developmental needs of the patient, performs routine patient activities and delegated patient care procedures of a specialized and technical nature. This includes observing and monitoring patient condition, identifying changes in collected patient data and notifying nurse, setting up and maintaining specialized clinical equipment, knowledge of aseptic technique, collecting blood specimens and performing related, delegated nursing procedures.
