An employer is looking for a Cloud Cost Engineer in the Seattle, WA area. This person will be joining the Global Infrastructure organization to oversee and optimize cloud spending across the company and ensure cost efficiency while identifying opportunities for cost reduction. This person will monitor and address cost anomalies in real-time and collaborate with engineers and architects. They will analyze cloud usage patterns to recommend savings plans and implement cost optimization strategies, along with communicating cost management strategies and findings clearly to stakeholders at all levels. Additional responsibilities will include:

Work with different software development and engineering teams to advise on architecture and resource optimization, waste management, capacity management, KPI development and maintenance, tagging and alerts enhancements
Develop comprehensive reports highlighting cost-saving opportunities and be able to clearly present and communicate recommendations and findings to different engineering, Finance and leadership teams
Clearly communicate cost management strategies, savings opportunities, and progress to stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
Stay updated on cloud cost management best practices and continuously seek out new opportunities for cost savings.
Work to fully understand our product and the way it is architected and deployed in the cloud, and the associated costs for each portion of the environment
Recommend savings opportunities related to cloud commitment purchases (Reserved Instances, Savings Plans, Spot, Committed/Sustained use) and track utilization of these commitments
Partake in creating, maturing, automating, and governing Cost Optimization policies and best practices

Required Skills & Experience

4+ years of experience supporting AWS/Azure cost management

Experience with cost optimization strategies and tools like AWS Cost Explorer, Azure Cost Management or an external tool like Cloudability

Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets and generate actionable insights

Excellent interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams, including engineers, architects, and product managers.

Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present complex information clearly to non-technical stakeholders.

Keen attention to detail with a strong focus on accuracy and quality.

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

Certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect) are a plus.
