Position Overview
Consider a career with one of the nation's largest Universities! The Office of Information Technology (OIT) develops and maintains mission-critical applications for the University of Minnesota. The Cloud Engineer will be part of our Cloud Enablement team, and closely partnered with the Data Platform team responsible for implementing a multi-container OCI environment in support of an Oracle GoldenGate implementation as well as an Oracle Analytics Cloud implementation. The ideal candidate will have experience in Higher Education and be excited by the prospect of assisting with the implementation of the University's data architecture to support our next generation of products and data initiatives. This is an exciting opportunity to define and operationalize cloud services in Azure, Google Cloud, AWS, and OCI through robust automation and CI/CD pipelines. Ideal candidates will have excellent technical and interpersonal skills (elevated EQ), an ability to work with users and technologists with varying levels of experience and a strong commitment to supporting an environment of trust, collaboration, and mission-focused work.

Job Responsibilities:
Design, develop, deploy, and sustain Enterprise Cloud Infrastructure capabilities including:
  • Infrastructure including Network, Compute, and Storage
  • Cloud Management, Monitoring and Security
  • Identity Management integration
  • Cost and Resource Management
  • Support the development of Cloud Infrastructure capabilities that meet Application and Database requirements for Disaster Recovery of domestic systems.
  • Collaborate with team members in Cloud Enablement, Operations, and Security to develop solutions that meet Federal, State and University security guidelines.
  • Support the development of automation within Cloud Infrastructures.
  • Support Transition to Operations activities to include training of Operational personnel in management of Cloud Infrastructure services and integration of Monitoring.
  • Ensure technical solutions meet quality, security, and compliance requirements; work directly with key stakeholders and technical teams to ensure solutions have passed the required quality checks.
  • Consult with infrastructure architects, engineers, and developers across the organization to ensure the value and flexibility of services.
  • Work with a team of engineers to build CI/CD pipelines.


Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
  • BA/BS degree in computer science or a closely related field and 4 years of related professional experience or a master's degree plus at least two years of related experience.
  • Experience with Cloud infrastructure as code experience (i.e. Azure, AWS, Google and on-premise cloud solutions and their associated vendor products and interdependencies).
  • Demonstrated experience automating cloud deployments with Terraform.
  • Experience developing CI/CD pipelines (development, staging and production).
  • At least two years of experience designing, developing, implementing, and sustaining OCI solutions.
  • Experience building Infrastructure Landing Zones in one or more public cloud providers (ie. AWS, Azure, GCP, OCI) with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) development and deployment.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Familiarity with the Higher Education environment.
  • Advanced OCI (Professional) Certifications.
  • Experience working in an Agile development environment and following Scrum methodologies.
  • Experience with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, GoldenGate and/or Analytics Cloud.
  • Working knowledge of Cloud/hybrid networking.
  • Understanding of federated identities.
  • Experience with configuration management tools such as Ansible, and IaC tools such as Terraform.
