Job Summary:
The University of Wisconsin- Madison, Division of Information Technology (DoIT) is looking to add a cloud engineer to the Public Cloud Team within the Systems Engineering and Operations department. This position will work with the cloud team in the planning, design, deployment, and testing of foundational and reusable elements of multi-cloud (Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud Platform (GCP)) provisioning and automation tools. The cloud engineer will consult distributed IT units, faculty, and the research community on networking, security, reliability, performance, monitoring, operations, processes, cost management, infrastructure as code (IaC), shared responsibility models, and well-architected frameworks.

The Public Cloud Team is a group of cloud engineers who focus on learning the cloud platforms to aid and consult members of the University community in the design, security, and operations of cloud computing. The Public Cloud Team consults with customers to help them design, secure, and manage their cloud workloads.

Qualifications:
Required qualifications:
- Professional experience designing, implementing, and maintaining solutions in Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
- Professional experience deploying and maintaining cloud workloads with infrastructure as code or cloud scripting solutions like Terraform, AWS CDK or CloudFormation, Azure ARM or Bicep, Google Cloud Deployment Manager, PowerShell, Pulumi, or Python
- Professional experience consulting with customers to learn about their needs, gather requirements, recommend solutions, and assist with solution implementation
- Professional experience leading the design, development, implementation, and certification of business-critical applications and workloads hosted in AWS, Azure, or GCP (required for level IV)
- Professional experience serving as an expert point of contact with external stakeholders, leadership, vendors, peer institutions, and IT partners regarding AWS, Azure, or GCP (required for level IV)

In addition to required qualifications, the most qualified candidates may also have the following preferred qualifications:
- Professional experience working with regulatory or security benchmarks like SOC 2, FERPA, HIPAA, NIST 800-53, NIST 800-171, NIST 800-144, or CIS benchmarks
- Demonstrated an ability to collaborate and communicate effectively in cross-functional teams
- Demonstrated an ability to effectively balance independent work with team work on a hybrid team
Work Type:
Full Time: 100%

This position is eligible for any of the following: 100% remote work; partial remote work; or fully on-site. Remote work requires an approved remote work agreement (RWA) agreement, which is reviewed and approved annually. An RWA requires successful candidates to possess their own high-speed internet and phone to perform the work on a university provided computer. Per University policy, transportation between home and assigned work location is not payable/reimbursable and will be at the expense of the employee

Starting salary will be based on experience and qualifications. Well qualified applicants for the Technical Integration Engineer III position can anticipate earning between $96,000 - $110,000 and well qualified applicants eligible for the Technical Integration Engineer IV position can anticipate earning between $110,000-$124,000 with final salary based on experience and qualifications.
