Position Description:
Work Schedule: Flexi, Irregular: Monday - Friday, 7:45am - 5pm
Work Location: OBGYN Urogynecology Clinic, The Kirklin Clinic

Under general supervision and according to established policies and procedures, the Medical Assistant is responsible for providing patient care in the clinic. Helps assist physicians with patient care procedures and serves as chaperone. Works in lab area running tests, and sending out specimens to UAB lab. May do venipuncture and injections. Helps organize, maintain, and file patient charts. May help with administrative duties such as scheduling appointments and scanning records.

Urogynecology and female pelvic medicine is the subspecialty of obstetrics and gynecology that treats women with pelvic floor disorders such as urinary incontinence, overactive bladder, voiding dysfunction, pelvic organ prolapse, pelvic pain, and urinary tract infections.

Position Requirements:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
High School diploma or GED required.

LICENSE, CERTIFICATION AND/OR REGISTRATION:
Currently certified as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) by the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) or Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) by the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) required. If certified by another accrediting agency, AAMA or NHA certification must be obtained within six (6) months of employment. Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification required or must be obtained within thirty (30) days of employment.
