Ira Davenport Memorial Hospital - Taylor Health is looking for Environmental Aides to join our team! This position is a steppingstone to a Certified Nurse Aide position with Taylor Health. Ira Davenport Memorial Hospital is partnering with Corning Community College to sponsor continuing education for candidates.

POSITION SUMMARY: Assists nursing staff by performing assigned functions of nursing care to patients under the direction of a licensed professional RN or LPN.

REPORTS TO: Unit Nurse or Nursing Supervisor of assigned unit

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Passes fluids of Resident's choice.

** 2. Transports residents to his/her required destinations.

3. Assists resident to outside appointments as assigned.

** 4. Makes residents' beds as needed.

** 5. Assists staff in maintaining the residents' rooms to maintain a clean and orderly environment.

6. Picks up soiled linen, observing correct standard precautions, policies and procedures.

** 7. Obtains or stores Resident's clothing.

8. Straightens resident's closets and dressers as needed.

** 9. Sorts and puts away laundry in a timely manner as needed.

10. Returns clothing racks/bins to appropriate storage area.

11. Cleans and organizes the pantries and utility rooms.

12. Removes trash from assigned areas as needed.

** 13. Is flexible in rotating from unit to unit.

** 14. Other tasks deemed suitable by Unit Nurse or Nursing Supervisor.

** 15. Assists in transfer of residents to and from activities.

** 16. Respects confidentiality with regard to both residents and fellow employees.

** 17. Respects and observes Resident's Rights.

18. Dresses appropriately; is neat and clean and complies with dress code.

** 19. Complies with attendance policy.

20. Complies with established break and meal times.

21. Arrives at work on time.

** 22. Utilizes time appropriately.

** 23. Conducts self with a high degree of excellence.

24. Demonstrates positive approach to staff and job responsibilities.

** 25. Adheres to THC policies and procedures.

26. Makes suggestions for improvement to Supervisors/Nursing Administration. Reports unsafe conditions to appropriate persons.

27. Becomes familiar with and responds appropriately to fire, disaster, and other emergency procedures.

28. Cooperates and offers help to unit staff and other departmental personnel.

** 29. Demonstrates ability to accept suggestions and criticism objectively, and undertakes to change behavior or seek further guidance.

30. Has a working knowledge of Corporate Compliance regulations and promptly reports any potential Corporate Compliance violations to the Corporate Compliance Officer.

31. Is familiar with and demonstrates Continuous Quality Improvement principles and participates in the process as appropriate, focusing on meeting the customer service needs of the internal and external customer.

32. Must possess the highest ethical standards with respect to discretion and regard for confidential information.

**33. Provides age appropriate care to adult and geriatric patients/residents.

34. Is responsible for attending all mandatory educational programs as required by position including successful completion of orientation program and maintains 12 CEU's per year. (6 CEU's per 6 months)

35. In order to provide the highest quality care to our patients and residents, individuals may be required to work hours beyond those normally scheduled. Work schedules may be subject to change based on the needs of the department.

EDUCATION:

High School Diploma, equivalent or experience preferred completing competencies.

JOB DEMANDS:

Needs to be able to adjust to various staff members, changes in assignment due to Unit needs, being exposed to disagreeable odors, sights, body wastes, etc. Involves standing and walking most of the shift; also required to lift full laundry bags.
