The Parker Meggitt Simi Valley Fire, Safety, and Power Division site is a fully integrated location with product responsibility from Marketing and Engineering through Supplier Management, Program Management, and Manufacturing, ending with delivery to customers.

JOB DESIGNATION

The CNC Programmer, under direct supervision, is responsible for creating, editing, and optimizing CNC programs to produce mechanical parts on 3, 4, and 5 axis CNC machines. This role involves developing highly diversified and complex programs for milling, drilling, boring, and tapping of aerospace parts while strictly adhering to safety protocols within the manufacturing plant. The programmer must understand their role within the Quality Management System (QMS) and its contribution to product quality and safety.

Ideal Candidate Profile:
The ideal candidate will be a highly skilled CNC Programmer with extensive experience in CNC programming, machining processes, and quality standards. They should possess a strong technical aptitude, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to problem solving. Excellent communication skills and a commitment to safety and quality are essential for success in this role.

JOB CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Maintain and implement AS 9100 procedures and participate in continuous improvement efforts.
  • Ensure strict adherence to departmental processes, safety regulations, and best practices.
  • Develop, modify, and optimize CNC programs for enhanced efficiency, including tasks like 3D profiling, thread milling, and 4th axis programming.
  • Design holding fixtures and select appropriate cutting tools required for machining operations.
  • Collaborate effectively with Program Management, Production, and Quality departments to ensure optimal workflow and communication.
  • Keep CNC programs updated to reflect current print/model revisions and engineering changes.
  • Operate CNC machines using various control systems, including Okuma (mill-turn/multi-axis operations and probing), Fanuc control, and G-code manual editing.
  • Utilize Predator software for post-processing, DNC, PDM, and MDC.
  • Perform daily equipment and coolant maintenance to ensure smooth operation.
  • Work efficiently to meet deadlines and production schedules.
  • Assume accountability for the efficiency and quality of assigned duties.
  • Promptly report any issues or difficulties to the supervisor and propose viable solutions.
  • Understand the implications of product failure on customer satisfaction and maintain high-quality standards.
  • Regular, consistent and punctual attendance is required. May need to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) and additional hours as necessary
JOB SPECIFICATIONS

Education:Post-secondary degree or equivalent combination of relevant education and work experience that will allow successful performance of job expectations.

Certifications:Vocational training, apprenticeships or the equivalent experience in related field

Years Experience:5+ years of relevant experience

Skills:
  • Proficient in standard and metric terminology with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to calculate proper speeds and feeds for various machining operations.
  • Familiarity with machine controls, instrumentation, tooling, and setup procedures.
  • Working knowledge of safety policies, procedures, and lean manufacturing principles.
  • Familiarity with the QMS reporting system, effective record keeping, and the ability to follow instructions diligently.
  • Experience with Okuma control systems (mill-turn/multi-axis operations and probing), and Fanuc control systems, and (G-code manual editing).
  • Experience with knowledge of conventional machining and lathe turning operations.
  • Experience with Predator software, including post-processing, DNC, PDM, and MDC.
  • Capability to perform daily equipment and coolant maintenance
Nice to Have:
  • 5+ years of experience in writing CNC programs using Mastercam in a machining environment.
  • Experience with Mastercam programming, including 3D profiling, thread milling, 4th axis programming, and probing.
  • Prior experience as a machinist or equivalent is advantageous.
  • Proficiency in Mastercam software or equivalent, with a strong understanding of G&M codes.
  • Ability to interpret and comprehend process work instructions, blueprints, and engineering drawings.
  • Hands-on experience operating various basic machine shop equipment, including drills, mills, lathes, grinders, and saws.
  • Proven experience operating 3, 4, and 5 axis CNC machines.
WORK AUTHORIZATION: This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements; therefore, a "US Person" as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. U.S. Citizenship/Permanent residency is required for most positions.

Please note that the salary range information is only applicable for California. Compensation is based on a variety of factors, candidate experience, qualifications, and location as well as market and business considerations. Pay Range: \$31/hr - \$43/hr
