Position Description
The overall duties of a CNC Programmer Include:
  • Load and unload castings and raw materials in CNC machinery properly and safely.
  • Able to independently setup, program, operate, and troubleshoot CNC routers.
  • Able to follow and train on procedures regarding maintenance, tool change, and day to day operation.
  • Able to utilize gauges and measuring instruments to meet tolerance requirements.
  • Recognize, deploy, and properly use inserts, fixtures, and tooling.
  • Able to perform and train operators (when applicable) on routine maintenance, cleaning, and troubleshooting tasks for CNC mechanical issues; maintain detailed maintenance logs on CNC machinery. Schedule maintenance with outside contractor as needed.
  • Read and interpret blueprints.
  • Able to reduce setup time, machining, and waste through process improvements.
  • Understanding of tools and router machinery.
  • Assist in the organization and maintenance of the machine shop work environment.
  • Provide constant feedback and input into process improvement within the department.
  • Work within the networking system and software to provide precision cut parts.
  • Interpret project blueprints and forming take offs using computer software applications to draw, toolpath, and produce precision cut parts.
  • Comply with all quality policies, specifications, regulations, and instructions.
  • Must adhere to all Metromont and OSHA safety rules and regulations.
  • Housekeeping as necessary to maintain work area, tools, and equipment in a clean and orderly manner.

  • Preferred proficiency with AutoCAD, Alphacam, EnRoute, and Microsoft Office products, including Excel and Outlook
  • Must be familiar with the use of Windows Operating System
