Job Summary

Job Description

The Biology and Nursing Tutoring Coordinator promotes student success in all Biology courses by providing ongoing expertise on promoting student success in biology and related courses. The Biology and Nursing Tutoring Coordinator works as a team member to manage the daily operations of the Academic Success Center and the Nursing/Biology area. This position provides lead work for a rotation of Biology and other subject-related tutors consisting of student employees and volunteers.

Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
  • Promote student success in all biology courses and other related courses and manage the daily operations of the Biology/Nursing Area and the Academic Success Center
  • Provide orientations to the Biology Nursing Area's personnel, programs, and services.
  • Assist with managing the flow of students for walk-in and appointment tutoring in the Academic Success Center.
  • Assist with administration of ACCUPLACER test and other approved testing instruments to students in conjunction with college staff of student employees.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Associate or higher degree in Biology. AND
  • One (1) academic year of teaching/tutoring experience in Biology at the high school level or above

OR
  • An equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Demonstrates an ongoing understanding of cultural fluency, incorporate culturally responsive practices, and actively engages in antiracism professional development learning opportunities.

Other Requirement

Current and former employees must be in good standing with Minneapolis College to be considered for the position.
