Role Overview:

The commodities business is looking for an Analyst / Associate level python developer located in Houston, to support fundamental analysis and the build out, maintenance and support of the fundamentals platform.

The candidate will be part of the commodities strat team and will work on providing tooling, timely and accurate data and analysis across the various Morgan Stanley commodity trading desks. This is a broad and technical role and will involve tasks related to: assisting with the expansion of products on offer, assisting with the execution of specific client-driven requests and business analysis/translating of requirements for systems enhancements. The main focus of the role will be on US Natural Gas products, however, candidate should expect to gain familiarity with all commodity products.

Role Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain data feed

• Provide strategic enhancements to the fundamentals platform

• Perform data analysis for trading desk

• Work with traders and originators to provide value adding analysis

Key Skills and Experience:

• Ability to work closely to traders on fundamental platform

• Coding experience in Python

• Good analytical, problem solving and communication skills

Preferred Skills and Experience

• Preferred knowledge of at least one of European Power and Gas, LNG, Oil, and North American Power and Gas market

Qualifications:

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $115,000 and $125,000 per year for Analyst and between $150,000 and $200,000 per year for Associate at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
