GENERAL SUMMARY

To assist in executing communications strategies and programs to influence nurse engagement, increase nurse knowledge, share key messaging to drive key nurse goals and initiatives. To draft, edit and deliver messaging through available and appropriate channels which may include print material, publications, intranet and external-facing web sites, digital signage, e-mail, social media, and presentations. To make best use of available technologies and ensure integrated and correct use of the UAB Medicine brand. To gather and analyze data on communications effectiveness and recommend improvements to extend reach and readership in support of relevant goals and initiatives.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Develops and implements proactive and reactive communications in support of UAB Medicine business initiatives, nursing communication needs, and the strategic plan.
  2. Creates and implements strategic communications programs focused on nursing needs.
  3. Identifies issues and opportunities to improve nurse messaging efforts
  4. Drives engagement by developing communication strategies and tactics to keep nurses informed and included in UAB Medicine initiatives.
  5. Keeps abreast of industry and competitive news and trends.
  6. Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.


Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field and one (1) year of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement. Minimum hiring rate must meet the most current FLSA guidelines for salary level and basis to remain exempt.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES

Interest and experience in Nursing communications and clinical communications are helpful
  • Health care industry knowledge and experience also helpful
  • Highly developed written, verbal and presentation skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and positive attitude
  • Fluent in various digital and print media applications
  • Critical analysis and planning skills
  • Adept at using various technologies
  • Able to manage and organize multiple priorities to achieve aggressive deadlines
  • Collaborative team player
