The Harris Center for Mental Health and IDD ("The HARRIS CENTER") is looking for a Community Engagement Coordinator to join our CCP team! Join us as a Community Engagement Coordinator where you'll provide essential support and resources to individuals impacted by disasters. In this role, you'll coordinate community engagement efforts, manage resources, and support event logistics, directly contributing to the recovery and resilience of affected communities. This position offers a dynamic environment where your organizational skills and passion for helping others will drive meaningful change.

As a Community Engagement Coordinator, your role will be action-packed, involving:
  • Dynamic Project Coordination: You will manage the logistics of engagement programs, including securing venues, coordinating material deliveries, and transporting necessary items.
  • Material Management: Take charge of ensuring the engagement team is well-equipped by researching, creating, and ordering outreach materials, as well as organizing and maintaining inventory in our materials hub.
  • Event Support: Work closely with the evaluation team to ensure materials are appropriately distributed and collected and provide ongoing technical support to field-based team members, including scheduling and event coverage.
  • Flexible Scheduling: Your role includes attending events during evenings and weekends as required, and transporting materials as needed across the county.
  • Support Group Assistance: Offer support and technical assistance to various support groups.
  • Continuous Learning and Communication: Maintain and expand your knowledge of behavioral health topics, identify key cultural insights, and keep the team updated with emerging news and information relevant to our focused neighborhoods.
  • Additional Duties: Be ready to take on other responsibilities as they arise, ensuring flexibility and adaptability in your role.


What qualifications you will need:

Education:
  • Bachelor's degree required, with a preference for degrees in Social Work, Public Health, Sociology, or Psychology.


Experience:
  • At least one year of program outreach/engagement experience, including collaboration with multiple departments or agencies.
  • Experience in tracking and reporting data, and a strong ability for networking and building relationships. Background in mental health-related programming is preferred.


Required Knowledge, Skills/Abilities:
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Leadership and teamwork capabilities.
  • Problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
  • Excellent time management and organizational abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Teams, and Outlook.
  • Effective planning and prioritization skills.
  • Bilingual in Spanish is preferred.

  • This role is designed for those who thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and are passionate about making a tangible impact in the community.
  • The position is primarily located at 9401 Southwest Freeway but will have a strong-field based presence as well. Travel is expected to be at 50%.
  • Important Notice: This position is funded through a specific grant and is subject to the availability of these funds. The employment term is tied to the duration of the grant, which is expected to be one year.
