The District Construction Office is seeking a candidate who is analytical, loves attention to detail, and works well in a fast-paced setting. In this position, this individual will be responsible for ensuring contract compliance is being met on various construction projects. This individual will also be accountable for managing, processing, and auditing major construction projects including recommending more efficient means of bookkeeping.

Position Description

Audits and conducts final review of construction project records; verifies contractor compliance with state and federal requirements and trains others. Employees at this level perform work independently on assignments; however, all unusual issues are referred to the supervisor.

Essential Duties:

  • Acts as liaison and assists with Federal Highway Administration and departmental reviews of construction records.
  • Advises contractors' bookkeepers on record-keeping procedures.
  • Assists area engineers by providing direction and technical expertise in resolving contract administration problems.
  • Performs and reviews construction records audits and coordinates with area engineers on monthly and final estimates, change orders, supplemental agreements and work orders
  • Performs final review of contracts.
  • Prepares related correspondence and reports.
  • Represents district or Construction Division at meetings regarding contract administration.


Minimum Qualifications:

Education: High School Grad or Equivalent in general high school studies. Related college education or relevant technical training may be substituted for experience on a year per year basis. Substitutions for Minimum Qualifications

Experience: 2 years of record keeping, bookkeeping, auditing or other related experience. (Experience can be satisfied by full time or prorated part time equivalent).

Licenses and Certifications:

  • Valid driver's license. This position requires driving a state vehicle.

  • Establishing plans and setting objectives and goals that support overall business strategy/results; anticipating and adjusting for problems/roadblocks.
  • Analyzing issues, facts, and available information to develop logical solutions; researching inconsistencies of facts

    or data; drawing correct inferences from information and making recommendations that support business decisions.


Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

  • Sedentary work: Lift up to 10 lbs at a time and occasionally carry files/small tools.
  • Light work: Lift up to 20 lbs at a time and frequently lift or carry objects up to 10 lbs.
  • Standing-prolonged periods of time.
  • Repetitive Motion-substantial movements of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
  • Close Visual Acuity-work includes data/figures; view a computer screen; extensive reading.
