The role is instrumental to ensuring compliance with Business Technology Solutions (BTS) policies, procedures, and processes within the Operations and Enterprise Systems (OES) organization. This position will also support and work directly with enterprise system and control owners to ensure their internal controls are designed and operating effectively, and control execution evidence is sufficiently retained and timely produced during audits. In addition, this role will assist in ensuring audit engagements are kept within scope, potential audit findings are properly vetted, and agreed-upon recommendations are implemented in a timely and effective manner.

In this role, you will be responsible for:

  • In partnership with the OES Recertification team, driving and coordinating the periodic user access recertification of SOX systems, ensuring adherence to EAE (electronic audit evidence) / IPE (information produced by the entity) documentation standard and quality requirements
  • Ensuring the right control subject matter experts (SME) participate in SOX audit walkthroughs and they are the ones speaking to their processes and controls
  • Proactively monitoring SOX execution for potential deficiencies and near misses and provide timely deficiency updates to OES Compliance leadership
  • Coordinating potential deficiency validation with control owners, ensuring they are valid; working with control owners to ensure deficiencies are timely remediated and closed out
  • Participating in SOX walkthroughs and working with the SOX PMO and external auditors to ensure audit engagements are executed within scope and IPE request due dates are realistic
  • Managing EAE requests, following up with assignees and escalating as appropriate to ensure timely fulfilment
  • Providing education and guidance to help control owners and other stakeholders understand SOX requirements and expectations, and to help navigate AbbVie requirements to effectively manage risks and minimize organizational impact
  • Championing continuous improvement initiatives and serving as a trusted advisor to stakeholders on risk, control, and compliance matters
  • Developing, implementing, and reporting SOX audit readiness support metrics; using insights from metrics to drive process improvements
  • Interfacing with key stakeholders (OES BTS process owners, the SOX PMO, Information Security and Risk Management, and the external auditors) to ensure successful audits
  • Performing work using standard methodologies and risk-based approach and bringing external perspectives to AbbVie OES Compliance
  • Cross-training on internal audit readiness support activities and playing a supporting role as needed
