A family law and civil litigation office is searching for a tech-savvy part-time Contract Employment Attorney to join their team in a remote position. The firm is based out of Cupertino, CA and requires attendance to court in San Francisco, so candidates must be located within the Bay Area. They are looking for someone with at least 8 years of employment law under their belt, particularly with plaintiff cases to handle a diverse range of responsibilities including client communications, case follow-ups, and court appearances. Key duties involve working on employment plaintiff cases like severance packages and wrongful termination, attending hearings, acting as an expert witness, and overseeing paralegal work. Salary Range: $75 - $110 / hour DOE

Contract Employment Attorney Requirements:
  • A Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school
  • At least 8-10 years of experience in employment law
  • Plaintiff experience is preferred
  • Active membership in the California State Bar
  • Experience in state and federal courts, with trial and pre-trial litigation preferred
  • Comfortable with frequent court appearances and capable of managing varying responsibilities flexibly
  • Must be tech-savvy and proficient in CRM systems like My Case and communication tools like Ring Central
  • Exceptional communication skills, with a proven track record of effective follow-up and client engagement
  • Previous experience running a law firm is a plus
  • Must live in the Bay Area of California, to facilitate court appearances and client meetings

Contract Employment Attorney Responsibilities:
  • Manage communication and regular follow-ups with clients to ensure they are informed and engaged
  • Handle employment plaintiff cases, focusing on issues such as severance packages and wrongful termination
  • Represent clients in court hearings, acting as an expert witness and managing depositions
  • Provide weekly client updates via email and ensure all legal documents are reviewed and approved
  • Oversee paralegal staff, guiding discovery processes and calendaring
  • Maintain high standards of client service and legal representation
