General Overview

Innovation is a 140 person Mass General Brigham business development unit responsible for the worldwide commercial application of the breakthroughs and unique capabilities of MGB's 82,000 employees and Harvard faculty. It drives revenue generation and patient benefit through industry collaborations, investing, company creation, licensing, and innovation management for MGB's Harvard Medical School appointed faculty and hospitals including its core Harvard affiliates -- Brigham and Women's Hospital, Massachusetts General Hospital, Massachusetts Eye and Ear and McLean Hospital.

The Contract Compliance Specialist will be responsible for ongoing data management of agreements throughout all phases. This position will support effective records management, improve overall data integrity, and increase revenue through a comprehensive review and understanding of MGB licenses.

Key responsibilities include understanding the structure of contracts, translating them into system records, developing tracking/reporting mechanisms for contract milestones and proactively monitoring paths to commercialization.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

• Manage agreement lifecycle from initial setup through closeout with thorough understanding of agreement types, necessary data collection and ensuring integrity of record

• Perform initial agreement set up including; agreement details, related attachments.

• Perform steps to execute an agreement including; agreement details, links, data validation, related attachments.

• Perform steps to terminate and/or expire an agreement including updates to; agreement status, terms, receivables and invoicing.

• Search and retrieve agreement files from archives.

• Decipher and translate contract language to actionable items entered into the innovation system.

• Develop milestone grids for each agreement for ongoing tracking, monitoring and updating.

• Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.

• Address all support tickets as assigned in a timely and effective manner.

• Contact management; add and update person and organization record as needed

• Tracks agreement milestones and licensee commitments throughout the life of the agreement

• Ensures compliance with diligence reporting across all agreement

• Drives revenue through the effective tracking and monitoring of milestone achievement

• Contributes to continuous process improvement; facilitates improvements to inter-office operations and service to the MGB community

• Stays knowledgeable and current on key metrics that require analysis, tracking and trending.

• Maintains knowledge of the systems to support the activities required by this role

Qualifications

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required

• 3-5 years of relevant work experience, experience supporting license and royalty audits strongly preferred

• Strong understanding of contracts and their key component

• Highly organized, develops processes to improve revenue cycle

• Experience in intellectual property, licensing and other industry academic transactions.

• Ability to work collaboratively across team

• Proficient in MS Office, advance skills with MS Excel

• Strong verbal, and written communication skills.

Skills, Abilities and Competencies

• Ability to understand Innovation agreement and their sections (including key milestones)

• Audit capabilities of existing license

• Resourceful at collecting information on license

• Interface with external parties to answer questions and resolve issue
