Position Details:

• Title: Control Operator III
• Location: Phoenix, AZ
• Shift: Operator will normally work within the control room setting in a thermal plant. Operator will work 12 hour shifts normally, both nights and days. Operator may be required to work overtime.
• Compensation: W2: $32-$36 Hourly.

Position Description:
The Control Operator III reports to the Plant Manager and is responsible for the day-to-day operations, preventative maintenance, and repair of the Energy Center Phoenix at Arizona State University Facilities, as well as remote operations of the Energy Center Tucson and Energy Center San Diego Facilities. The main goal is to ensure that the plants are operated in accordance with the priorities of Safety, Reliability, and Efficiency.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
• Understand system operating requirements, identify trends, perform routine analysis, and make recommendations for operating adjustments.
• Identify abnormal operating and equipment conditions, perform required routine and corrective maintenance activities, and troubleshoot and repair electrical and/or mechanical equipment.
• Track and log operational system status using applicable journals and control system tools.
• Identify, report and address safety hazards.
• Follow plant operational procedures to ensure the accomplishment of reliability goals and production requirements.
• Maintain competency in the operations of local and remote plant facilities in conjunction with maintaining the electrical and mechanical equipment and facilities to ensure unplanned outages are prevented.
• Use Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) effectively to accomplish required maintenance in an efficient and organized manner.
• Make recommendations to enhance plant reliability and performance.
• Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications:
Ideal candidates for this position will have 4+ years of military or industry experience with an educational relevant field in district working with power, steam and/or chilled water equipment.

• Communicates openly to ensure all personnel are informed of plant and equipment conditions.
All applicants must have:
• Previous experience in a similar service environment/role is a must.
• Possess knowledge of district energy systems, large tonnage chillers and/or combustion turbine generators.
