Our South Seattle based client is looking for a Controller. Candidate must be at the Controller level and have 10+ years of field experience. The Controller role consists of auditing, full cycle financial reporting, implementing internal controls and overseeing 7+ employees. Experience in property management and Yardi and Avid are preferred.

Responsibilities:

• Responsible for ensuring the preparation of full financials for the Residential portfolio including the preparation and analysis of financial statements and internal reports in accordance with closing calendar (Balance Sheet, Income Statement, Equity Summary and Cash Flow Statement).
• Perform month end closing tasks including recording journal entries, calculating accruals, performing variance analyses, and reconciling GL accounts, as needed to support the Residential team close timeline.
• Ensure monthly balance sheet reconciliations and timely follow-up.
• Lead and mentor a team of 6 finance professionals, providing guidance and support in day-to-day activities.
• Provide review of high-level accounting functions such as Preferred Return calculations, Net Income Allocations and Equity cascades.
• Perform variance analysis and provide insight to staff on corrections needed.
• Participates in special projects as needed or directed by Controller which may include identifying and implementing process improvements, participation in software upgrades and supporting business growth.
• Establishes and maintains effective communication and coordination with team members, coworkers, and management.
• Provide insights into opportunities for improvement and efficiency.
