Clarification from the agency

Duties
- Performs a full range of simple cooking by preparing and cooking items that require little or no processing, such as pancakes, sausage, eggs, hamburgers, and fresh or canned vegetables. Makes cold sandwich fillings. Sets up and replenishes salad bar.
- Prepares food by peeling, chopping, grinding, paring, cutting, slicing, dicing, pureeing, dredging, flouring, or breading. Weighs, measures, and assembles ingredients for regular and modified menu items.
- Operate a variety of kitchen equipment. Disassemble, clean and assemble component parts and accessories. Follow safety procedures to avoid personal injury and damage to the equipment.
- Uses and cleans a variety of cooking utensils to measure, weigh, and process food items. Clean, store and maintain all equipment and work areas after each use. Clean other work areas and equipment on an established cleaning schedule.
- Follows established sanitation procedures when handling food. Ensures that foods are stored at the correct temperatures to prevent bacteria growth. Perform other duties as assigned.

- Direct Deposit and Social Security Card is required.
- Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
- A one year probationary period may be required.
- Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
- Satisfactory completion of 4-hour initial food sanitation and safety training is required within 30 days of employment and minimum of 4 hours refresher training annually.
- Shift will vary based on mission but could include days, nights, weekends and occasional holiday.
- Subject to satisfactory completion of all pre-employment checks in accordance with AR 215-3, para.2 to include a medical
examination. - Incumbent may be required to complete a Tier 1 background investigation for a Common Access Card for physical access to federally controlled facilities.

PCS Costs
- Payment Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs ARE NOT AUTHORIZE, based on a determination that a PCS move IS NOT in the Government's interest.
FWS Allowances and Differentials
- This is a federal wage schedule (FWS) position.
- All FWS employees are entitled to overtime work for work in excess of 8 hours in a day or in excess of 40 hours in the administrative workweek, whichever provides the greater benefit to the employee.
- Regular full-time, regular part-time (to include those in a limited tenure appointment category) and regularly scheduled flexible employees are entitled to Sunday premium pay when working Sunday shifts. A FWS employee will be paid a night shift differential of 7.5% for the entire shift when a majority of the employee's regularly scheduled non-overtime hours of work occur between the hours of 1500 and 2400. A FWS employee will be paid a night shift differential of 10% of the scheduled rate if a majority of the employee's regularly scheduled non-overtime hours of work occur between the hours of 2300-0800.
