The Opportunity

The Production Coordinator is responsible for successfully organizing and managing the day-to-day activities surrounding raw materials processes and inventories to ensure customer deadlines are met and maximum operational efficiency is achieved. This role is responsible for coordinating raw material needs, ensuring on-time delivery from suppliers, monitoring and controlling inventories, creating/communicating/ and monitoring purchase orders to suppliers and accounting, and coordinating with shipping department to ensure on-time delivery and proper receipt of raw materials.

How you will contribute to Smurfit Westrock:

Business Excellence
  • Creates, administers, maintains, and tracks all raw materials purchase orders. Ensure that these purchases are within Corporate Contract standards.
  • Identify and resolve any inventory issues caused by deviations of orders to enable continuous operations at the plant.
  • Maintains and reconciles open PO report and communicates with vendors daily to ensure orders are on schedule.
  • Maintains Approved Vendor List.
  • Facilitates RFQs & RFIs.
  • Closely manage supplier relationships and performance against agreed goals and metrics.
  • Research material discrepancies and work with QA to issue SCAR's, request return authorizations, & track credits for items returned to supplier and issue claims.
  • Corrects discrepancies between purchase orders and supplier invoices in a timely manner.
  • Works with accounting to resolve Accounts Payables issues in a timely manner.
  • Handles special projects and performs other job duties as needed.
  • Review reports to ensure orders were successfully delivered by carriers and received.
  • Ensure on time delivery of raw materials to meet press dates based on customer orders.
  • Generate weekly inventory reports based on required quantities in the schedule vs. on-hand and in-transit quantities.
  • Communicate cross-functionally with Customer Service Representatives (CSRs), Plant Scheduler, Sales Managers, Supply Chain Managers, Production Managers, and Mill Managers to facilitate information sharing regarding machine breakdowns, late shipments, expedited orders and modify daily production plans to accommodate new information.
  • Assist with maintaining and resolving received not vouchered list and automated voucher match list.
  • Must have ability to answer the telephone and provide information/assistance in a professional manner.

People and Culture
  • Notify CSRs and management of bottlenecks or holds caused by shipping delays.
  • Participate in daily operational review meetings to discuss safety and production issues regarding raw material concerns.
  • Partner with Shipping department to coordinate dock times for receipt of inventory from suppliers.

What you need to succeed:
  • Preferred: 1+ year(s) in a folding carton plant or paper mill facility
  • Required: High School Diploma or G.E.D.
  • Microsoft Office - Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word experience
  • Experience with order entry system (e.g. JDE) and inventory systems (AS400, BPCS)
  • Experience with ex-GenSuite, WorkForce, monthly safety/SQF/PE engagement
  • Must be able to work overtime as needed.
