Reporting to the Manager of Apprenticeships & School-to-Work Programs, the Coordinator, Advanced Manufacturing Pre-Apprenticeship is responsible for working with the Office of Apprenticeships & School-to-Work Programs, the Division of Strategic Initiatives & Community Engagement, faculty and administration, the PA Department of Labor and Industry, and industry partners. The coordinator facilitates, organizes, and implements the College's two Advanced Manufacturing focused Pre-Apprenticeship Programs and the High School Equivalency ( HSE ) to Workforce Training Initiative. This position provides support and coordination in developing and registering Pre-Apprenticeship Standards with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, implementing Pre-Apprenticeship programs, coordinating with our internal High School Equivalency Programming, and providing support and technical assistance to students and partners of the Pre-Apprenticeship Programs. The Coordinator collaborates with the aforementioned stakeholders to ensure successful implementation and evaluation of the Advanced Manufacturing initiatives, the high school equivalency to workforce training pipeline, and the Pre-Apprenticeship programs' goals and objectives.

Specific Responsibilities
  • Work with College and employer partners to follow all processes and procedures necessary for successful development, implementation, and operation of the Advanced Manufacturing Pre-Apprenticeship Programs and the HSE to Workforce Training Initiative.
  • Build relationships with industry partners, facilitate partnerships for program support including recruiting advisory committee members, facilitating employer oversight of curriculum, and signing on employer partners to support work-based learning initiatives embedded in programs.
  • Act as liaison between employer partners, Pre-Apprenticeship Programs, and Office of Apprenticeships & School-to-Work Programs throughout the program cycle.
  • Work with Manager of Apprenticeships & School-to-Work Programs to develop and compile program standards and registration materials for program registration with Pennsylvania's Apprenticeship & Training Office.
  • Collaborate with a wide variety of business, industry, governmental, social service, and community organizations to recruit potential pre-apprentices.
  • Work with faculty to support Related Technical Instruction ( RTI ), coordinate with internal departments to support HSE to Workforce Training Initiative
  • Establish and maintain Pre-Apprentice training schedules and process necessary documentation required for all Pre-Apprentices with the ATO or other reporting entities.
  • Collaborate with the local Workforce Development Board (Philadelphia Works) to stay informed about local apprenticeship developments and employer training and hiring needs.
  • Deliver quality customer service to both internal and external constituents in a professional, helpful and courteous manner.
  • Monitor project budget and prepare grant reports as needed concerning program outcomes to College leadership and funding partners.
  • Perform assigned duties in a manner consistent with the mission, goals and core values of the College.
  • Maintain sensitivity, understanding, and respect for a diverse academic environment, inclusive of students, faculty, and staff of varying social, economic, cultural, ideological and ethnic backgrounds.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Associate degree in an applicable academic discipline or related field of study required.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of work experience in workforce development, coaching, training, and/or advanced manufacturing required.
  • Ability to collaborate well with internal and external constituents required.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines and maintain flexibility required.
  • Advanced problem solving and project management skills; Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent organizational, communication and time management skills required.
  • Demonstrated proficiency utilizing MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy required.
  • Ability to maintain sensitivity, understanding and respect for a diverse academic environment, inclusive of students, faculty, and staff of varying social, economic, cultural, ideological, and ethnic backgrounds required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree preferred. Any and all degrees must be from a recognized institutional accreditor.
  • Basic knowledge of pre-apprenticeships, apprenticeships, or other work-based learning models preferred.
  • Prior experience working with training consultants, employer partners, and/or college faculty in the development and implementation of training programs preferred.
  • Prior experience managing budgets preferred.
  • Proficiency using Banner or Destiny One preferred.
  • Background in advanced manufacturing is preferred.
