Summary

The Department of Academic Technologies is seeking an experienced Audiovisual Specialist with a diverse skill set spanning digital and analog technologies. As part of our team, you'll be responsible for a wide range of AV tasks, including networking, data distribution, storage management, and basic production-related programming.

Job Duties

• Equipment Operation:
- Proficiently operates both digital and analog audio-video equipment, including projectors, computers, video cameras, lighting gear, audio devices, teleprompters, and video editing software. Your expertise ensures successful audio-visual communication and presentation activities.

• Technical Guidance:
- Provides valuable technical guidance and consultation services to various BCM entities seeking input on audio-visual communication strategies. Your insights contribute to effective communication solutions.

• Collaboration with Vendors and Contractors:
- Works closely with technology vendors, advisors, and contractors (both internal and external) during the design, purchase, and installation of audio-visual technology projects.

• AV-over-IP Infrastructure:
- Familiarize yourself with the design, operation, and details of our "AV-over-IP" infrastructure. Be prepared to support the Supervisor in understanding its function and structure.

• Troubleshooting and Repair:
- Troubleshoots and repairs basic electrical and connectivity issues related to audiovisual gear. Your problem-solving skills are crucial for maintaining smooth operations.

• Video Production:
- Engages in video production using HD and SD digital cameras and other production equipment. Your creative eye enhances our visual content.

• Video Editing Skills:
- Proficiency in video editing software such as AVID Media Composer, Camtasia, or similar tools is essential. You will contribute to polished final products.

• Networking Knowledge:
- Understands networking infrastructure and device connectivity issues. This knowledge ensures seamless AV integration.

• Effective Representation:
- Represents BCM's audio-visual communication technology expectations effectively. Fosters collaborative relationships with leadership, departments, and faculty involved in or impacted by audio-visual communication projects.

• Stewardship and Metrics:
- Maintains an effective program for stewardship of BCM's audio-visual communication technologies and services. Safeguards relationships, delivers excellent customer service, and contributes to increased support levels. Ongoing reporting and data collection may be part of this role.

• Budget Considerations:
- Be prepared to work in a partial or full cost recovery environment, considering various budgeting and cash-flow obligations.

• Relationship Building:
- Strengthens existing relationships and explore opportunities for expansion.

• Goal Support:
- Assists leadership and faculty in developing and achieving goals and objectives related to audio-visual communication.

• Additional Duties: - Willingness to learn new things. - Flexible to perform other duties assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Two years of relevant experience.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's or bachelor's degree in audio visual technology, electronics, television and radio, education technology, or a related field.
  • AVIXA CTS preferred or similar certification.
