ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Provides program leadership, transformational coaching, technical assistance, professional development, and partnership coordination to: staff, school teams, schools, and families / community members, and community organizations, in support of CSH component efforts and within one or more focus areas.
- Leads, coordinates and supports respective projects and initiatives within designated focus area.
- Coordinates the development, organization, implementation, monitoring and revision of various district and/or school based programs, supports, services, initiatives and activities within the coordinated school health framework and department.
- Coordinates efforts to ensure that the expectations detailed in the District's Coordinated School Health (CSH) policy are met.
- Coordinates short term and long range planning and prioritizing (including assessments, evaluations, etc.) for district Coordinated School Health programs, services and resources.
- Works with school and community members to define, develop and implement ancillary programs, services and resources.
- Keeps informed about current legislation, literature, and research on coordinated school health related topics and issues.
- Gathers information, brokers, and serves as a liaison between the district and community resources.
- Participates in district and community collaboratives and/or task forces.
- Develops, aligns, monitors and supports CSH related programming utilizing a data informed decision making approach in partnership with both district level and community level partners.
- Develops, markets and provides tools to support technical assistance for the CSH component/department efforts.
- Provides community and family education on CSH focus areas as assigned.
- Coordinates fiscal aspects of focus area related grants, including payroll and accounting, monitoring and approving budget expenditures.
- Supervises, manages and evaluates assigned personnel.
- Performs other related duties assigned by immediate supervisor.
- Conduct the functions within one or more of the following focus areas and align efforts within all focus areas:
Focus Area: ATTENDANCE:
- Researches, scales up, raises awareness of, and promotes attendance best practice / strategies, and district and community supports, and aligns them with other school structures, processes, and priorities.
- Coordinates efforts to ensure the development, implementation, review, and evaluation of annual school attendance plans.
- Leads, coordinates, and supports Attendance and department projects and initiatives.
- Gathers and utilizes data to support equitable and targeted transformational coaching and technical assistance to and with in-district partners, school teams and to individual school staff.
- Provides support and communication to school attendance teams, including outreach/recruitment of members, meeting facilitation, data tracking/evaluation, and the APS Tiered Approach to Attendance.
Focus Area: BEFORE AND AFTERSCHOOL PROGRAMS:
- Coordinates and facilitates safety, access, quality, grants, partnerships, and initiatives related to Out of School Time (OST) programs, which can include: before and/or after school, intersession, summer, and mentoring programs; clubs; and tutoring supports.
- Coordinates the identification, development, and sustainability of programs, initiatives, partnerships, funding, etc.
- Gathers and utilizes data to support equitable and targeted utilization of funding and placement of programming, and for other OST decision making.
- Implements strategies and practices to ensure: access, development, and quality improvement of programs; and alignment between school academic and whole child content/priorities and program activities provided to students.
- Coordinates and supports management of contract and grant agreements, submissions, deliverables, reporting, etc.
- Leads, coordinates, and supports OST and department projects and initiatives.
Focus Area: FAMILY AND COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT:
- Conducts and promotes capacity building and leadership development of families, and strategies that foster effective school / family partnerships.
- Researches, develops, scales up, raises awareness of, promotes, and disseminates family engagement best practices / strategies / tools, training, and district and community supports.
- Leads, coordinates, and supports Family and Community Engagement and department projects and initiatives.
Focus Area: VOLUNTEER PROGRAMS:
- Provides support and communication to school volunteers including outreach / recruitment, engagement/ retention, data tracking/evaluation, and recognition efforts.
- Provides capacity building training, tools and resources to foster the development, design, implementation, and evaluation of school Volunteer Programs which are aligned with school goals.
- Coordinates the overall district Volunteer Program (including APS CARES).
- Leads, coordinates, and supports Volunteer Programs and department projects and initiatives.
Focus Area: STUDENT WELLNESS
- Provides Competitive Food Sales monitoring, tools and compliance
- Provides School Health Advisory Council (SHAC) coordination and technical assistance
- Supports schools with nutrition and physical activity partnerships, resources and technical assistance
- Provides coordination and technical assistance for Walking School Bus initiatives
Focus Area: SPECIAL PROJECTS / BASIC NEEDS SUPPORTS:
- Coordinates Clothing Bank operations, partnerships supports, sustainability efforts, initiatives/projects, and outcomes, including outreach and collaboration with donors, school stakeholders, families and media.
- Coordinates and supports team schedules and assignments, provides feedback and input regarding staff performance and development needs.
- Tracks quantitative and qualitative data to support grant writing and reporting.
- Oversees inventory processes, including tracking, ordering, receiving, and stocking.
- Fosters collaboration and conducts marketing to raise awareness of services and the referral process to ensure students in need across the district know about and can access support.
- Coordinates volunteer and student learning opportunities.
- Leads, coordinates, and supports Special Projects/Basic Needs Supports and department projects and initiatives.
Focus Area: GRANT SUPPORTS:
- Coordinates district and school level processes to foster equitable and effective identification of schools and initiatives targeted for grants.
- Coordinates processes and support to/with schools in order to ensure: staff capacity to develop and write viable grants (based on needs assessment, data, and a defined theory of change); submission of grant applications with a targeted and aligned line item budget;and grant implementation, reporting, deliverables, and evaluation.
- Coordinates support to schools related to fiscal and procurement processes and deliverables (e.g. budget set up, grant aligned and approved purchasing, budget tracking, compliance with timelines, transfers, reporting, etc.).
- Support partner/resource identification, contracting, agreements, and.accountability.
- Serves as a liaison between funders, district departments and schools to ensure the program budget and purchasing are in alignment with grant funding requests, requirements, limitations, etc..
- Provides professional development and technical assistance to schools in order to write, manage, track outcomes of, and evaluate grants effectively.
- Leads, coordinates, and supports Grant Supports and department projects and initiatives.
PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND EXPERIENCE:
- Experience in one or more of the focus areas noted above.
- Interpersonal skills with diverse populations in-person and on the telephone.
- Effective presentation and meeting facilitation skills.
- Experience providing Technical Assistance/Support to various units/components of an initiative or organization.
- Bilingual (Spanish/English).
- Experience developing community partnerships.
- Knowledge and ability to communicate and interpret data, federal and state laws and policies.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Flexibility, organization, decision-making, team building and problem solving skills.
- Ability to work under stressful situations, meet deadlines, work on multiple projects.
- Proficient with word processing, database and spreadsheet software.

REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree and (5) years of experience in program development, implementation, and oversight in fields related to the CSH model OR
- Associate's degree and nine (9) years of experience in education, health, social work, psychology, counseling, or fields related to the CSH model OR
- High School Diploma and twelve (12) years of experience in education, health, social work, psychology, counseling, or fields related to the CSH model.
- Experience in program development /management and community partnership development.
- Experience working with school community partnerships and/or collaborative projects.
