SUMMARY OF POSITION:

Under the general supervision of the Core Laboratory Manager, the Laboratory Point of Care Coordinator oversees and maintains Point of Care Testing (waived testing) performed throughout the hospital. This includes but is not limited to the review of quality control with corrective action, procedure development/review, instrumentation assessment/maintenance, new test implementation, and research of test methodologies. Assists nursing and other designated departments with educational needs, and assists with the laboratory performance improvement and proficiency programs.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION(S):

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required.
  • Certification as a Medical Technologist, CLS (NCA), MLS/ MT (ASCP), or MLT (ASCP) or equivalent required.
  • If certified after 2004, must maintain active credential status to maintain employment.
  • Two (2) years of experience as a medical technologist or five (5) years of experience as a medical laboratory technician required. Valid driver's license required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATION(S):

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred.
