Coordinator - Occupational Therapist

Fast-paced, high volume Outpatient Therapy Department is looking for top skilled Occupational Therapist Coordinator. Is that you?

Work location: Texas Health Dallas, 8200 Walnut Hill Lane, Dallas, TX 75231

Work hours: Full-time Day Shift; 36 hours per week

• Monday - Friday; 7:30am - 6:00pm

• Outpatient department with physical therapists, occupational therapists and speech-language pathologists who work collaboratively to provide excellent patient care.

Here's What You Need

  • Bachelor's Degree Completion of an Occupational Therapy program Required
  • Master's Degree Occupational Therapy Preferred
  • 3 years as practicing clinician Required and
  • 1 Year in designated leadership area, demonstrating progressive leadership skills and behavior Required and
  • 1 Year clinical instructor for professional students preferred
  • OT - Occupational Therapist Texas Occupational Therapy License Upon Hire Required
  • BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly Required and
  • Good verbal and written communication skills in English; Problem solving ability; Ability to teach others; Time management skills; Good interpersonal and customer service skills, Basic leadership skills and
  • Provide 50% direct patient care; 50% leadership responsibilities

What You Will Do

Performs age-appropriate patient treatment

  • Uses therapeutic treatment techniques appropriate to patient age and desire for treatment
  • Performs treatment procedures that are within the scope of the professional license
  • Performs/delegates technical procedures appropriately and safely
  • Utilizes a variety of treatment techniques to achieve goals, if necessary
  • Determines patient response to treatment and evaluates progress (reassessment)
  • Educates patient and family through instruction, demonstration, and/or appropriate handouts in treatment plan, safety issues, home
  • programs/self-management and assistive equipment
  • Maintains patient safety throughout treatment

Performs age-appropriate patient assessment and establishes plan of care

  • Obtains/verifies physician order for therapy and validates for appropriateness
  • Reviews available medical records and obtains pertinent medical history from patient or family
  • Ensures that patient has given informed consent to treatment
  • Evaluates each patient using age and diagnosis appropriate assessment tests and measurements, including appropriate outcome assessment tool(s)
  • Integrates assessment results to identify functional problems and prioritizes care needs with patient and family
  • Sets appropriate, measurable, functional goals with time frames to address the identified problems including patient/family goals and preferences
  • Determines plan for care, and/or appropriate therapeutic interventions to achieve stated goals
  • Initiates therapy discharge planning in collaboration with care team and patient based on prognosis and expected discharge disposition
  • Demonstrates competence in the performance of age-appropriate patient assessment and individualizes care based on age specific needs.

Performs Team Leadership

  • Assists with annual performance review of therapists, assistants, and support personnel for area of responsibility
  • Meets with staff to coordinate and schedule patient care or discuss problems concerning patient care for area of responsibility monitors on a daily basis patient volume versus staffing ratio and spread of patients among available staff to ensure self and staff are meeting productivity targets
  • Assists and teaches less experienced staff
