The University of Virginia's College at Wise invites applications for a Coordinator of Community Standards. This 12-month position reports to the College's Deputy Title IX Coordinator & Compliance Specialist and is a member of the Student Affairs division.

The Coordinator of Community Standards oversees the daily operations of the student conduct process (both for individuals and student organizations). Duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Investigates alleged violations of the student code of conduct;
  • Will receive Title IX Investigation training to serve as alternate;
  • Review reports, assess charges, and delegate cases;
  • Serves as a hearing officer, where appropriate;
  • Serves as advisor to the Student Conduct Board, including selecting and training board members;
  • Manages and maintain student conduct records and documentation;
  • Manages and reconciles the student conduct budgets;
  • Provides educational opportunities/programs to the campus community on a variety of issues, including but not limited to safety, privacy, online communities, ethical decision-making, civility, and self-responsibility and collaborates with other departments to create comprehensive educational programs;
  • Assists with compliance with federal and state laws and regulations related to student conduct administration, including the Clery Act, FERPA, Title IX, Title VI, the Drug-Free Schools and Communities Act, and the Higher Education Opportunity Act;
  • Collects and analyzes data related to student conduct trends.
  • Leads the College's Annual Day of Service event;
    • Coordinates logistics, marketing, and volunteer recruitment for the event.
  • Will assist with others' duties as assigned.
EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK

This is a full-time, salaried position. Typical office hours are Monday through Friday, 8 am to 5 pm. Daily hours may be flexible depending on weekend and late-night events.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education: Bachelor's degree Required; Master's Degree Preferred. Prior experience supervising and working with students in club and organization/event management.

Experience: 1-3 years

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.
