Position Overview:

As the Coordinator of Employer Engagement and Career Development, you will play a key role in enhancing career opportunities for Herbert students by cultivating strong relationships with employers, both locally and nationally. This role will spearhead efforts to connect students with internships, full-time employment, and career resources while ensuring close collaboration with faculty, alumni, and key campus partners.

Qualifications:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement strategic plans to engage with employers, create impactful partnerships, and expand internship and career opportunities for students.
  • Maintain and cultivate relationships with existing and new employers, serving as the primary liaison between employers and Herbert's career resources.
  • Organize and lead career fairs, networking events, company site visits, and other initiatives to connect students with potential employers.
  • Collaborate with UT's Center for Career Development, the Herbert Advancement team, faculty, and other campus partners to enhance career development opportunities and student success.
  • Manage and promote the Handshake platform for job postings, ensuring its optimal use by both students and employers.
  • Facilitate career-readiness programs, such as workshops, interview preparation, and job search training, to support student professional development.
  • Collect and analyze internship, employment outcomes, and employer engagement data to inform strategic decisions and share insights with stakeholders.
  • Represent Herbert in relevant career organizations and serve on committees to support campus-wide career initiatives.


To be successful in this role, candidates should possess:

  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with private and public employers, faculty, and students.
  • Proficiency with reporting and data management software.
  • Skilled in event organization and management.
  • Ability to work with social media to promote career-related events and opportunities.
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and travel as needed.


Our ideal candidate has:

  • Knowledge of recruitment and hiring practices within private and public sectors.
  • Experience in teaching guest lectures and leveraging artificial intelligence tools for operational efficiency.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Agriculture, Natural Resources, Life Sciences, Construction Science, or a related field.
  • Two years of experience working with students in higher education or private industry (Two years of related experience as part of a graduate program may equate for up to one year of experience).


Preferred Qualifications:

  • A Master's Degree or background/experience in Agriculture, Natural Resources, Life Sciences, Construction Science, or a related field.
  • Experience in hiring, supervising, and/or human resources.
