The Haslam College of Business (HCB) at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, invites applications for a Coordinator of Pre-Collegiate Engagement (Full-time, Exempt) in the Office of Student Engagement. The Haslam College of Business Office of Student Engagement is charged with pre-collegiate engagement activities to recruit and build relationships with prospective students and families. Reporting to the Director, this position develops and facilitates Haslam's external recruiting activities, including visiting high schools for presentations and other events, attending recruiting fairs (i.e., college fairs within Knoxville, across the state of Tennessee, and out of state), participating in UT-sponsored events (i.e., VIP events and admitted student events both in-state and out-of-state), overseeing preview events for prospective students (e.g., Big Orange Preview), and creating communications for admitted students.

Qualifications:

Responsibilities:

  • Off-campus programming
    • Attend local (TN) and regional (surrounding states) college fairs during the fall and spring semesters to initiate relationship building with prospective students and families.
    • Participate in off-campus programming, hosted by Enrollment Management, to represent Haslam during the fall (e.g., VIP events hosted around the state of TN and out of state) and spring (e.g., admitted student receptions).
    • Develop on-campus programming for prospective students and families (e.g., Big Orange Preview) and assemble presentations working with other college representatives for content to represent their areas and present content at information sessions
    • Create and implement webinars and other virtual engagement opportunities for prospective student connections
    • Will require frequent consecutive days of travel during the fall and spring semesters, both in-state and out-of-state, to attend events and college fairs
  • Communications
    • Create and maintain print communications for prospective and admitted students throughout the life-cycle of the admissions process
    • Develop digital communications for admitted students, including admitted student journey emails throughout the confirmation window continuing through orientation until the start of classes.
    • Create presentations and other visual aids for pre-collegiate engagement use developing a consistent theme and using new engagement tools
    • Create and maintain materials to be used in recruiting activities (i.e., table toppers, giveaways, banners, etc.)
    • Develop special communications for events and other student programming
  • Student Engagement Support
    • Be an active and engaged member of the Office of Student Engagement
    • Support Pre-Collegiate Engagement efforts for internal audiences (i.e., New Vol Admit Day, Knoxville-based visits and programs)
    • Meet individually with prospective students and families to discuss Haslam
    • Assess off-campus programming with Director of Student Engagement to determine action plans for future admission cycles.


Qualifications:

  • Required Qualifications and Experience:
    • Bachelor's degree focused in business, communication, student services, or a related field is required
  • Desired Qualifications and Experience:
    • Work experience in a related and professional field. Experience working in an environment similar to an undergraduate business advising office, enrollment management, or communications office. Familiarity with an undergraduate business curriculum.
    • Master's Degree focused in business, communications, student services, or related fields is preferred.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Required:
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking; ability to work independently and collaborate with numerous constituencies; time management skills; excellent organizational skills. Experience working with communications (can be student organization) and social media.
  • Preferred:
    • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, design software, and information technologies used for student record keeping. Familiarity working with Slate and other email client softwares. Knowledge of university policies and procedures; research and assessment skills; knowledge of pre-collegiate engagement and best practices; knowledge of student development.
