General Statement of Duties:

The MassLINKS Part-Time Advisor coordinates and delivers services supporting student success for the MassLinks Adult Education Online Academy. This position coordinates and delivers individualized, small group, and large group activities supporting the following areas of student success at the MassLinks Adult Education Online Academy at MWCC: (1) College and Career Planning Services (2) Academic Support and Student Success (3) Active Referrals to Community Support Services. The MassLINKS Part-Time Advisor conducts workshops in support of student success and school-wide initiatives. The MassLINKS Part-Time Advisor supports students as they build knowledge and skills in support of navigating complex systems necessary for successful engagement in critical services and communities across the Commonwealth. The MassLINKS Part-Time Advisor maintains insight and knowledge of funder policies and procedures. This position also maintains insight and knowledge of internal and external support services and fosters strong partnerships with colleagues and community partners to facilitate access to a broad network of support services for students enrolled in the MassLinks Adult Education Online Academy at MWCC. The MassLINKS Part-Time Advisor assists with the data management needs of the program as assigned by the President's Designee and performs other duties as assigned in support of Student Success for the MassLinks Adult Education Online Academy at MWCC.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and record comprehensive career development plans for students enrolled at the MassLinks Adult Education Online Academy at MWCC;
  • Utilize knowledge of statewide priority industries identified by the Workforce Skills Cabinet to coordinate the creation of comprehensive academic and career plans aligned to the to statewide priority industries and providing pathways to family sustaining wages for enrolled students;
  • Conduct workshops and information sessions for students of the MassLINKS Adult Education Online Academy aligned to program curriculum, student success initiatives, and program development goals;
  • Utilize knowledge of academic programs offered at Massachusetts' Community Colleges to coordinate the creation of comprehensive academic and career plans;
  • Incorporate regional Labor Market Information into academic and career plans;
  • Provide support for continuing and returning students of the MassLinks Adult Education Online Academy at MWCC;
  • Support the assessment needs of the program as assigned by the President's Designee;
  • Coordinate and provide assistance to students transitioning to credit-bearing academic coursework at MWCC or their local community college.
  • Utilize technology consistent with high-quality academic advising services at MWCC such as the Advisor Link, TargetX, and/or DegreeWorks;
  • Utilize the technology required of Adult Education programs in Massachusetts such as LACES;
  • Apply knowledge of student support services to make appropriate and timely referrals to internal and external partners in support of student success;
  • Collaborate with staff at partner agencies to ensure eligible individuals access services across agencies in Massachusetts;
  • Collaborate with colleagues across both AE and ESOL services at the MassLINKS Adult Education Online Academy at MWCC and community partners to support collaborative efforts across the entire Public Higher Education System in Massachusetts.


Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Higher Education Administration, Social Welfare, Counseling, or closely related field;
  • Three (3) years experience and/or training that includes counseling, personal/academic advisement; non-traditional student interaction, welfare procedures, or program management; or
  • An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Desired Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree in Education or closely related field;
  • Experience developing/delivering outreach and communication plans;
  • Experience with remote communication tools;
  • Experience with shared document systems (Microsoft 365, Google Workspace for Education, etc.);
  • Previous experience working with adult learners.
