Housing is seeking (1) Coordinator, Student Staff Selection and Training to join the already awesome team taking the department to the next level of excellence!

The Coordinator for Student Staff Selection and Training has primary responsibility for managing the recruitment, selection, recognition, training and development and evaluation of residence life student staff. This position is responsible for developing training programs, including fall and spring student leader institutes (SLI), evaluating the effectiveness of training programs, and serving as a resource for departmental student staff training and development programs. Additionally, the Coordinator of Student Staff Selection and Training chairs the Student Staff Selection and Training committee.

HERE IS WHAT YOU WILL DO

Staff Recruitment and Selection

• Manages and coordinates the recruitment and selection process for over 250 residence life student staff members, which include Resident Assistants, Learning Community Assistants, Panther LEAP Mentors and Student Assistants

o Collaborates with Coordinator Residential Leadership for recruitment within Panther LEAP, University Housing's student leadership program

o Develops fair and consistent application and interview processes with the Student Staff Training and Development committee

o Manages online process logistics through eRezLife software

o Administers collaborative process for selection of student leaders, including new and returning staff members

o Coordinates an online (website and social media) presence for student staff recruitment

• Chairs the Student Staff Selection and Training Committee, facilitating regular weekly meeting with residence life staff

• Works closely with Coordinator for Human Resources to ensure student staff meet position requirements, proper paperwork is submitted and processed and payroll is set up

Staff Development

• Develops, plans and facilitates fall and spring training for over 250 student staff and leaders

• Plans and implements regular staff training initiatives and opportunities throughout the academic year, which includes maintaining the resource room and planning student leader in-services

• Oversees and conducts student leader (Resident Assistant, Learning Community Assistant, Panther LEAP Mentor) and student assistant evaluation processes each semester

• Monitors and maintains student staff disciplinary action

• Conducts student leader academic and conduct checks each semester

• Develops and maintains a University Housing website for staff-only access to include resources, forms, helpful links, etc.

Residence Life Responsibilities

• Oversees, manages and prioritizes residence life training and development, student staff and student leader payroll and student leader meal plan budgets totaling over $700,000

• Conducts regular assessment of selection and training initiatives as related to departmental goals and Residential Curriculum

• Assists with all major functions of University Housing including, but not limited to move-in, move-out, Admissions events, trainings and retreats

• Participates in on-call rotation

• Serves on divisional, campus or university-wide committees as requested

• Implements department policies and procedures at the program level

• Develops and maintains relationships with internal and external organization stakeholders critical to program success

• Attends and completes Targeted Selection® training and assists in training University Housing staff members for behavior-based interviewing

• Performs other duties as assigned

Reporting

The Coordinator for Student Staff Selection and Training reports to the Assistant Director for Staff Recruitment and Development. This is a 12 month, full-time, professional, live-on position. Employment is contingent upon a satisfactory background check.

Qualifications:

Minimum Hiring Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree and three years of related experience.
Preferred Hiring Qualifications:

• Master's degree in college student personnel, counseling or higher education administration or related field

• 3-5 years of professional experience, post masters

• Experience supervising graduate and/or professional staff

• Experience implementing student learning and program outcomes assessment
