About the Employer

The Orange County Department of Education (OCDE) serves some of Orange County's most vulnerable student populations and provides support and mandated fiscal oversight to 28 school districts serving more than 600 schools and approximately 475,000 students. In addition to providing direct instruction to students through its own alternative and special education programs, OCDE administers an array of programs and services that are critical to the operations of local school districts and community colleges, facilitating professional development, legal guidance, payroll, career and technical education support, high-speed internet access, Local Control and Accountability Plan assistance and approval, resources for families, and student enrichment. Job Summary

OCDE is currently recruiting for a dynamic Coordinator, Teaching Learning and Instructional Leadership Collaborative. The selected candidate will support the planning, development, design, and implementation of coherent TK-12 mathematics and STEM professional learning experiences and systems for teachers, administrators, and communities to improve and transform classroom instruction to be student-centered. Knowledge Of: • TK-8 content standards and progressions in mathematics. • Current research-based practices in student-centered, problem-based mathematics teaching and learning. • Principles of andragogy (adult learning theory) and pedagogies. • Broader perspectives of mathematics standards, pedagogy, and assessment. • Content Coaching to support instructional improvement. • California Assessment System, including SBAC, CAA, and the interim assessments. • Effective High Quality Instructional Materials in Mathematics. • Supporting program or project planning, implementation and outcomes with evaluation processes to support improved teaching and learning in schools and districts. • Development and use of logic models to describe complex programs and design an evaluation plan. • Data analysis, development and visualization. • Effective teacher collaborative practices that promote learning. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: • Recommend and assist districts or LEAs in the implementation of goals, objectives, and strategic plan within an educational program. • Design and implement a variety of professional learning opportunities of varying scale for diverse educational audiences to build content knowledge, pedagogical knowledge, and specialized content knowledge. • Coordinate and support the cooperation of agencies and organizations involved with the educational program. • Maintain records and develop reports concerning new or ongoing programs and program activities and effectiveness.

Education and Experience: Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be: • Master's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in education, education administration, or a related field. • Five years of increasingly responsible educational experience, two years of successful collaboration aimed at enhancing mathematics instruction preferred. • Experience in successful use of Cognitively Guided Instruction practices in the classroom and successful use of high quality, aligned instructional materials preferred. • Experience collaborating with math education researchers and national organizations that support high quality teaching and learning and problem-based math instruction preferred. • Experience in Elementary and Middle School Education preferred. Licenses, Certificates, and Special Requirements: • A valid California credential authorizing instruction or service in a public school program.
