Job Description

MU Marketing and Communications is a critical partner in helping the institution meet its mission and strategic goals. Mizzou Marketing is committed to working in an intentional, data-informed, forward-looking, and collaborative manner to implement a comprehensive enrollment strategy.

Mizzou Marketing works collaboratively with academic leadership and the university's marketing professionals to create a marketing strategy that is consistent with the university's overall brand and that supports the institution's Strategic Enrollment Plan.

The Copywriter will report to the Mizzou Marketing Creative Director. This position will research, develop and write compelling, conversion-driving content for websites, landing pages and marketing campaigns primarily for the Mizzou Online audience. Utilizing industry best practices, fine attention to detail and exceptional communications skills, the copywriter will collaborate as part of a central team to produce a diverse range of materials designed to lift enrollment, sentiment and brand awareness efforts across multiple channels for a variety of audiences and programs.

Position Responsibilities:
Develop institutional marketing messages for publication across a variety of channels, including web, social, video, print and other media platforms

Research and write impactful and creative content across multiple ad platforms for specific DMAs and target audiences

Write conversion-driven, SEO-friendly content for Mizzou Online website, landing pages and other University of Missouri websites as needed

Fact-check and edit department publications and products, including PowerPoint, web, marketing copy, memos and letters

Study the core demographics of our key target audiences to understand the mediums and messages that are most effective in communicating with them

Analyze and evaluate creative performance to identify opportunities for continued improvement of marketing efforts

Research industry leaders and competitor messaging to identify successful trends and techniques to improve Mizzou Marketing campaigns and websites

This is an in-person/on-campus position. Reimbursement of relocation expenses is available.

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 3 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary

Preferred Qualifications

At least 3 years' experience in marketing and advertising strategy development, corporate communications, higher education, or something similar with an emphasis on conversion copy writing.

Anticipated Hiring Range

Salary Range: $55,000-$65,000/year

Grade:GGS-10
