Prepare and deliver instructional activities that facilitate learning. Possess knowledge of effective teaching concepts. Counsel and instruct students in a professional manner and appearance. Educate students on relevant safety requirements, laws, and state and federal regulations pertaining to commercial driver's license. Facilitate in-classroom learning and hands on simulation training. Maintain proficiency in skills and knowledge as they relate to operations of over-the-road. Utilize relevant technology (Simulation) to support instruction. Meet and confer with individuals and groups concerning a variety of subject including confidential matters. Maintain considerable knowledge of all requirements of DMV for CDL programming. Complete VGCC paperwork with limited assistance and submit items in a timely manner for entering data into system. Provide feedback to students regarding course progressions. Maintain suitable class records, registration forms, attendance forms, evaluation forms, etc. Submit paperwork to Coordinator at the end of class in a timely manner.
Inform Prison Staff and Coordinator of any student issues (attendance, behavior, etc.) as soon as possible.
Qualifications
Education and Experience Required:
Possession of a valid NC Class B Commercial Driver's License
Education and Experience Preferred:
Experience working in a correctional setting preferred A minimum of 1 years teaching experience
Physical Demands
Light work that includes moving objects up to 20 pounds. Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting/standing.
