Objectives of this Role:

  • Perform electrical work. Procure materials for electrical work.
  • Support building remodeling, maintenance and new construction.
  • Support new and existing test engine set ups.
  • Works to meet completion deadlines while occasionally working overtime.


Daily and Monthly Responsibilities:

  • Must have knowledge of the National Electrical Code and be able to apply it on the job.
  • Must be able to work alongside other personnel and have good communication skills.
  • Must be able to safely operate hand tools as well as larger shop equipment (i.e. drill press, band saws).
  • Responds to electrical malfunctions in a timely manner to keep laboratory downtime to a minimum.
  • Troubleshoot electrical issues for buildings and laboratories with their own tools and tools provide by the shop.
  • Must safely operate work trucks and forklifts.
  • Must have experience in conduit bending using manual and electric benders.
  • Must be able to do a job take off to procure the required materials to perform the job.
  • Orders electrical parts and materials to perform electrical work and to maintain parts in stock such as electrical wire, breakers, fuses conduit, strut, etc.
  • Work with engineers to develop the electrical systems for new testing and upgrade of older tests and components.
  • Follows written and verbal instructions to troubleshoot and repair/replace motors and motor starters, solenoids breakers, fuses, pumps and occasionally support the maintenance technicians.
  • Will be required to be on a rotating call out schedule.


Requirements:

  • Requires a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • 4+ years: Performing maintenance and repairs of motors, brakers, motor starters, pumps and heaters. Troubleshooting chillers and boilers in support of maintenance technicians. Reading blueprints and one-line diagrams.
  • 4+ years: Troubleshooting other equipment and motors to verify needed repairs. Ordering material as needed. Other tasks as assigned by management.
  • A valid/clear driver's license is required.
