A Snapshot of Your Day
A Crane Operator utilizes overhead cranes to move large generator rotors (15 to 200 tons) throughout various steps of the production process.
How You'll Make an Impact
- Safely rig, lift, transport, and load generator rotors onto fixed stands, roller stands, and machines, such as lathes and horizontal boring mills.
- Regularly inspect lifting equipment
- Assist with mechanical hand skills tasks in other work areas of the department such as rotor winding, assembly, and balance on an as needed basis
What You Bring
- Must have high school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to obtain a critical lift crane operation license. Previous experience is preferred.
- Ability to obtain fork truck license. Previous experience is preferred.
- Must also be able to read, write, understand, and follow verbal and/or written instructions in English.

Zero or low emission power generation and all gas turbines under one roof, steam turbines and generators. The Large Generator Rotor Operations team is responsible for manufacturing large electric generator rotors weighing up to 200 tons. We operate within the Large Generator team to supply new 150 - 1000 megawatt generators to power plants all over the world. In addition to manufacturing new rotors, we also service generator rotors by providing inspections, rewinds, modernizations, and upgrades.
