Meta is seeking a Critical Operations Manager to join our Data Center Operations team. Our data centers serve as the foundation upon which our software operates to meet the demands of our customers. The Critical Operations Manager (COM) is responsible for the safe and effective operations, maintenance, and modernization of a ~30-70 MW data center. This person must be familiar with equipment utilized in critical environments, have a focus on operational excellence, and enjoy managing a team.

Critical Operations Manager Responsibilities


  • Lead the execution of both the tactical and strategic direction of a critical operations team to safely and effectively operate, maintain, and modernize physical infrastructure.

  • Manage a team of Lead Building Engineers, Critical Facility Engineers, and Facility Project Manager through hiring, mentoring, coaching and intentional performance management to maintain a safe and effective operations environment.

  • Review and serve as the final approval authority for procedures based on internal standards.

  • Conduct Post-Incident and Root Cause Analysis reviews. Incorporate lessons learned into the day-to-day operations of the campus. Communicate significant lessons learned to relevant internal and external teams.

  • Collaborate with peer Critical Operations Managers to ensure consistency in the strategy and approach to delivery of critical operations.

  • Maintain strong partnerships with technical and support teams, along with cross-functional partners responsible for server hardware and network capacity to achieve maximum uptime.

  • Support the environmental, health and safety (EHS) program as well as technical training programs to ensure adherence to Meta Safety Policies and Procedures.

  • Routinely inspect buildings, grounds, and critical equipment and provide observation and assessment of operations in the data center.

  • In collaboration with peer COMs and Lead Building Engineers, review risk mitigation efforts across the campus and resolve or escalate any concerns with conflicting redundancy impacts.

  • Responsible for compliance and adherence with work management processes and workflows, including the accuracy of work orders in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), and Standards.

  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive incident response program of emergency operating procedures for the Critical Operations Team.

  • Support construction project execution (new & retrofit) in the data center, which could include serving as the operations point-of-contact for construction projects and ensuring adherence to construction processes while supporting the critical operations environment.

  • Occasional travel as required

  • however, more travel may be required during onboarding.


Minimum Qualifications


  • 8+ years experience in critical facilities operations

  • 7+ years experience in team management

  • Proficient with maintenance management programs

  • Ability to regularly walk job site areas of flat and uneven terrain

  • Ability to work at varying heights and from ladders

  • Ability to lift and/or otherwise move 45 pounds or more regularly

  • Ability to use hands and fingers

  • Reach/push/pull with hands/arms/shoulders

  • Stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl


Preferred Qualifications


  • 12+ years experience in critical facilities operations

  • Associates degree, technical trade certification or state licensure in electrical, mechanical and/or controls
