Crop Phenotyping Scientist Intro
We are seeking a dedicated Crop Phenotyping Scientist for a special phenotyping project at our Research Triangle Park location. This is a unique contract position with a duration of 6 months, with the possibility of extension. The role demands a hands-on approach to conducting crop phenotyping experiments in controlled environments. Thi is a six month contract with likely extensions/conversion to perm.
Crop Phenotyping Scientist Job Details
- Conduct a variety of crop phenotyping experiments in controlled environments including greenhouses, growth chambers, and laboratories.
- Perform integrated plant phenotyping activities to quantify morphological, physiological, agronomic, and molecular traits.
- Seek opportunities to optimize operational efficiency associated with plant care, phenotypic measurements, and digital data collections.
- Collect and deliver phenotypic data timely to meet project milestones using science-based approaches.
- Work 40 hours per week, including weekends and holidays as needed.
- Perform all activities in accordance with Syngenta Health, Safety, and Environmental Policy.
Crop Phenotyping Scientist Mandatory Skills
- Clearly and effectively communicate with team lead and members for regular reports and result updates on research progress.
- Proficiency in standard phenotyping techniques and protocols applicable to major row crops.
- Ability to work independently and under limited supervision to plan and carry out experiments with comprehensive phenotyping activities.
- Work collaboratively with multifunctional supporting groups and as part of teams to ensure functional and project goals are achieved.
- Contribute to inventions, publications, and new approaches to existing research activities.
- Ability and willingness to work for extended periods and perform all physical aspects required in plant care and greenhouse activities.
- Commitment and adherence to specific stewardship and quality management practices is essential.
- Demonstrated ability and motivation to work in unsupervised situations.
- Superior time management and organizational abilities.
- Exceptional attention to detail (phenotypic observations) and accuracy (data quality).
