Custodial & Housekeeping Temporary Assignments

Duties and responsibilities: vary depending on departmental needs. Duties may include but are not limited tobeing responsible for meeting high standards of housekeeping in offices, meeting rooms, public areas, bathrooms, housekeeping closets, and other areas within the facilities. Duties include floor maintenance, dusting, gathering and removal of trash, and may include snow and ice removal from entrance ways and sidewalks. Reports needed equipment and building repair and any unsafe or unusual housekeeping situations. Responsible for the care and handling of housekeeping supplies, equipment and assigned keys. Occasionally assists with the preparation of regularly scheduled events. This position may be designated Emergency Personnel, and requires employees to report to work during emergency situations, closings, and per supervisor's instructions.

Emergency Hire opportunities are limited to 130 calendar days of employment.

Required qualifications: may vary based on assignment. Candidates with the appropriate combination of experience and skills will be considered.Ability to comprehend and follow instructions, and properly use or learn to use cleaning chemicals and agents, including dilution and dispensing systems. Must be able to walk and stand extensively; climb stairs; safely move or handle up to 35 lbs.; bend, stoop, reach (including reaching above the head to dust), push/pull, perform repetitive motion, and twist. Must be able to safely and efficiently operate electrically powered and manual cleaning equipment. Must be willing and able to learn the use of heavy floor care equipment. This position may be designated Emergency Personnel, and may require employee to report to work during emergency situations, closings, and per supervisor's instructions. Must be able to complete assignments in a timely manner; strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to interact comfortably and respectfully with all individuals in a diverse multicultural environment.
