The State of Wisconsin, Department of Military Affairs (DMA) is hiring a Custodian. This position is located at Volk Field Air base, in Camp Douglas.

Hours of work are: Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Volk Field is one of only four Air National Guard Combat Readiness Training Centers in the nation, and the only one that does not share its airfield with a civilian airport. The Training Center Mission is to provide a year-round integrated training environment (airspace, facilities, equipment) for units to enhance their combat capabilities and readiness.

The DMA provides essential, effective, and responsive military and emergency management capability for the citizens of our state and nation. During emergencies, no single organization can handle the response. Position Summary

This position is responsible for a variety of custodial tasks. Duties include but are not limited to: dusting/cleaning buildings, appliances, and furnishings, emptying trash, operating household and industrial vacuum cleaners, operating industrial carpet cleaner, sweeping, mopping, stripping, and waxing all floors manually or by machine. Work is performed under the guidance of a Custodian Lead or under the supervision of a Custodial Services Supervisor.

Salary Information

Pay for this position is $16.18 per hour.

This position is in the 03/08 pay schedule/range. A 12-month probation will be required.

For current permanent state employees, pay will be set in accordance with the State Compensation Plan.

The Department of Military Affairs does not sponsor work visas at the time of hire or anytime during employment. All persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and complete the required Employment Eligibility Form I-9.

Job Details

Must possess or be eligible to obtain and maintain a valid driver's license and meet the requirements of the State of Wisconsin Fleet Vehicle Policy to drive a state vehicle.

State of Wisconsin Fleet Vehicle Policy:

Must have a valid driver's license

Minimum of two year's driving experience

Must be 18 years of age or older

Additionally, the driving record must not reflect the following conditions:

Three or more moving violations (with point reductions) and/or at fault accidents in the past 2 years

An OWI or DUI violation within the past 12 months

A suspension or revocation of the driver's license

In order to gain access to the military facilities and to determine whether the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job being filled, DMA will conduct a comprehensive background check.

All new permanent, project, and limited term employees will be required to report to Joint Force Headquarters (JFHQ) in Madison on the Monday of their first week of employment for the New Employee Orientation (NEO) program. Additional information will be sent to the new employees and their supervisors on the Tuesday prior to NEO.

Qualified candidates must have the ability to bend, stoop, climb ladders, and lift up to 50 pounds, with or without a reasonable accommodation.
