About the Role: We are looking for a Customs & Global Trade Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will help build capabilities and be responsible for tasks related to import and export operations & compliance for US Customs and other participating government agencies. You will be part of the Fabrics Global Trade Team and partner with your team and leadership to ensure we execute international shipments in a timely and compliant manner. As well, you will partner with our Businesses, other Global Trade Associates, Customs Brokers, and Freight forwarders to develop processes, procedures, and efficiencies in our global trade work.

This position will be located at our Lovett facility in Elkton, Maryland, with the possibility of a hybrid remote work arrangement, depending upon the responsibilities of the role and business needs.

Responsibilities:
  • Create customs export documentation in compliance with regulations
  • Coordinate logistics moves with freight forwarders for exports
  • Evaluate shipping methods and delivery expectations to ensure timely and cost-effective shipments
  • Issue import clearing instructions to customs brokers in compliance with US Customs and other participating government agencies
  • Identify potential cost savings opportunities for imported goods
  • Maintain import records to meet the federal requirements for Recordkeeping
  • Work with brokers and other service providers to ensure timely delivery of imported shipments
  • Perform audits and address corrective actions to ensure compliance with all regulatory import requirements
  • Keep up to date on global trade regulatory requirements
  • Provide support to other global trade import and export activities


Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 1 year experience in international trade or logistics services OR minimum of 3 years of experience in international trade or logistics services
  • Experience processing import and/or export shipments
  • Demonstrated understanding of basic import and export requirements
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to positively influence others
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to work in a team environment as well as independently
  • Ability to use a risk-based approach to problem-solving
  • Ability to travel 10%

Desired Qualifications:
  • Knowledge or experience with ERP tools like SAP and Global Trade Management Systems
  • Desire to research to ensure customs compliance
  • Commitment to customer service
