The Department of Corrections is recruiting to fill a Dairy Specialist (Correctional Enterprises Specialist - Developmental, or - Senior) position. This position is based out of the Waupun Dairy Farm (Waupun, Dodge County) .

Position Summary

This position is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the dairy. This position supervises, instructs, and directs skilled and semi- skilled persons in our care, and directs the production of multiple products in the processing of raw milk and other dairy products.

This position maintains operating standards for quality productivity in the dairy to meet customer satisfaction. This position works with W.A.T.C.P. and F.D.A. inspectors to insure wholesome, healthy and safe dairy products.

This position uses the Department of Corrections mission statement to guide persons in our care to successful reentry into the community by providing employable job skills.

Salary Information

Correctional Enterprises Specialist - Developmental is in pay schedule and range 03-13 and offers a starting pay rate of $22.78/hour .

Correctional Enterprises Specialist - Senior is in pay schedule and range 03-14 and offers a starting pay rate of $24.59/hour .

This level of this position will be determined by the qualifications of the applicant hired. It can be hired at either level. Pay will be set in accordance with the Compensation Plan and Wisconsin Administrative Code in effect at the time of hire.

A twelve-month probationary period is required.

Job Details

Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States (i.e. a citizen or national of the U.S., a lawful permanent resident, or an alien authorized to work in the U.S. without DOC sponsorship) at the time of application.

The Department of Corrections will conduct criminal background checks on applicants prior to selection. Upon hire, all new DOC employees are subject to fingerprinting . The Department of Corrections may conduct pre-employment drug screens. Any applicant who is offered employment in a position which requires a pre-employment drug screen must pass the screen as a contingency of employment.

Remote work options not available for these positions. This position is FLSA Non-Exempt.

Normal schedule will be Monday - Friday 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM.

Qualifications

Minimally qualified applicants will have:
  • Experience producing pasteurized milk products
  • Experience inspecting dairy equipment
In order to be considered at the Senior Level:
  • Applicants must possess a Class B CDL license at time of hire and have experience as a lead worker or directing other employees on daily tasks.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

At Time of Hire: Applicants must possess a valid driver's license and meet State of Wisconsin fleet requirements . Employees will be required to maintain a valid driver's license and eligibility to drive a fleet vehicle.

Within 1 Year of Hire:

Must possess and maintain Pasteurization Certification.

Must possess and maintain Drug Residue Certifications.

Must possess and maintain Weigh Hauler and Samplers License.

Within 2 Years or Hire: Must possess and maintain Class B CDL license including Air Brakes and Tanker Endorsements.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Ability to lift 50 pounds and to climb ladders of up to 50 feet.
