Job Description
The Data Analyst compiles and coordinates flow of quality improvement information within the medical staff departments. Performs analysis on data. Maintains Automated Quality System by compiling, writing, analyzing and distributing data. Manages CMS/JCAHO publicly reported data extraction and reporting.
Quality Management:
Reviews charts concurrently and retrospectively for quality compliance by comparing information to pre-determined indicators. Enter results of review into appropriate computer database.
Coordinates Data for CMS, TJC, analyzes data, reports information and recommends action. Coordinates high profile data and reports for the organization. Coordinates information and provides data from chart to hospital attorney as needed, maintaining confidentiality. Analyzes aggregate data results and identifies areas in which to improve patient care.
Leading/Planning/Organizing:
Annually develops objective criteria that reflect current knowledge and clinical experience meeting TJC requirements for the Medical Staff. Writes for RFP's, awards and various quality presentations.
Staff Development:
Identifies unusual events and forwards cases to Peer Review or Risk Management as appropriate (if not previously identified). Provides training to new employees in areas of quality/peer review. Acts as a resource for these definitions for Medical Center.
Information Management:
Monitors focuses for accuracy Enters information for Special Studies. Prepares reports from study and distributes appropriately. Prepares graphs using graphics software.
Communications:
Develops and writes reports for Department Chairs, QCC Board and External Agencies as required/requested. Works to coordinate activities with Peer Review Coordinator and Review Staff. Collaborates regarding indicators/Peer Review issues/MIDAS issues/follow-up. Reports on aggregate data, chart reviews at various Medical Staff Department meetings.

5 years in RN experience in Med/Surg patient care in hospital.

Qualifications
MINIMUM
DESIRABLE
Education, Credentials, Licenses:
- RN license in state where work is performed with accreditation current
- RN license in state where work is performed with BSN, BS or BA
Specialized Knowledge:
- Knowledge of disease processes
- Good interpersonal Communication Skills
- Knowledge of computer programs, MS Office and MIDAS.
- Problem solving.
- Ability to identify from chart content the pertinent items needed to perform function & to organize the items for presentation.
- Knowledge of specialty areas such as OB, PE, PS
- Knowledge of quality review concepts & systems, including TJC.
- Knowledge and ability in essentials of study reporting, using graphs.
- Knowledge of TJC Quality Standards
- Knowledge of basic statistics.
- CPHQ certification.
Kind and Length of Experience:
5 years in RN experience in Med/Surg patient care in hospital.
- 1 year or more experience in quality review.
- 1 year or more experience reporting of quality review activities.
